Carefully review the safety precautions in the front of this guide before starting this installa- tion procedure. Ensure that the printer power switch is set to the OFF [ O ] position and unplug the power cord from the AC outlet. - Page 9 RS232/422 Installation Guide for the 34ppm Laser Printer 1-3 Installing the RS232/422 Serial Interface in the 34PPM Laser Printer Turn thumbscrews on controller assembly counterclockwise until loose and gently pull cover towards you to remove from printer. Once the thumbscrews have been removed, pull the side panel away from the printer by the top edge as show below.

While aligning the front bracket of the serial interface assembly to the two respective thumb- screws on the controller assembly bracket, firmly seat the 80-pin male connector on the underside of the interface to the 80-pin female connector on the controller assembly.
