Dock Level Hydraulics

PROBLEM
FAILS TO LIFT TRAILER

Package
To troubleshoot the engine in the hydraulic engine
package, please refer to the owners manual that was
provided with the engine package.
PROBABLE CAUSE
Oil passing through relief valve for
excessive time
Incorrect, low, dirty oil
Engine running too fast
Excessive component internal leakage
Restriction in filters or lines
Insufficient heat radiation
Malfunctioning component
Excess oil going to dock level circuit
Incorrect, low, dirty oil
Air leaks
Low, incorrect, foamy oil
Suction line plugged
Damaged or worn shaft seal
Loose or broken parts
Leaking cylinder seals or fittings
Control valve not centering when released
Valve damaged
Seals damaged worn
Seals worn or damaged
Rod damaged
Barrel damaged
Leaking fittings or cylinder seals
Piloted check valve or o-ring leak
PROBABLE CAUSE
Insufficient hydraulic supply pressure
Worn hydraulic pump
Insufficient volume to dock level circuit
Too heavy a load
Insufficient volume to dock level circuit
Dirty oil in check valves
TROUBLESHOOTING
SOLUTION
Return control valve to neutral when not in
use
Use recommended oil (See Table 4-1). Fill
reservoir with clean oil. Replace filter.
Reduce engine speed
Repair or replace component as
necessary.
Clean and/or replace filter or lines.
Clean dirt and mud from
reservoir and components.
Repair or replace
Adjust flow divider for 2.5 to 3.1 GPM flow.
Replace, clean, or add oil as needed
Check suction line and component seals
for suction leaks. Replace defective
parts.
Replace, clean, or add oil as needed
Clean out obstruction or replace line.
Flush system, replace filter
Replace seal and check for misalignment
Tighten or replace
Replace worn seals or fittings
Check linkage for binding and repair
Repair or replace
Replace
Replace
Replace
Replace
Tighten loose fittings. Replace worn seals
or fittings
Replace defective component
SOLUTION
Adjust relief valve for 2400 - 2500 psi
