External DVD drive
Find information about managing external DVD drives for the 5105-22E, IBM Power
(9008-22L), IBM Power System S922 (9009-22A and 9009-22G), IBM Power System H922 (9223-22H),
or IBM Power System H922S (9223-22S), IBM Power System S914 (9009-41A and 9009-41G), IBM
Power System S924 (9009-42A and 9009-42G), IBM Power System H924 (9223-42H), or IBM Power
System H924S (9223-42S), IBM Power System E950 (9040-MR9) and IBM Power System E980 (9080-
M9S).

The stand-alone USB DVD drive (FC EUA5) is an optional, stand-alone external USB-DVD device. It
requires high current at 5 V and must use the front USB 3.0 port on the system.

– Reads CD-ROM, CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD-ROM, and DVD-RAM discs
– Writes 4.7 GB DVD-RAM discs
– CD read speed at 24X.
– DVD-ROM read speed at 8X.
– DVD-RAM at 5X.
– DVD-RAM has a write speed of 5X.
– The buffer size is 0.75 MB and cannot be disabled.

• Operating positions: horizontal only (on a flat stable surface or floor)
Note: A USB extension cable is included (P/N 32N1311). The USB extension cable is to be used when
there are no safe, flat spots available in the rack. This cable allows the drive to reach the floor.
Alternative or additional extension cables are not supported as the total USB cable length can be no
longer than 3 meters.
