Quicksilver 455CAB — System & Component Overview and Operation

1. Fuel System

Your boat's petrol fuel system consists of a portable fuel tank located in the bilge. Access to the tank is
via the center cockpit floor hatch. Straps are used to secure the tank to the fuel tank floor. On the
portable tank itself is a quick-disconnect fitting that allows you to easily remove the fuel distribution
line to the engine. It is recommended that you follow all instructions regarding the filling and
transportation of the portable fuel tank.

Fuel Tank
Your boat is equipped with a 25L portable fuel tank. As a precaution, all of the capacity may not be
useable due to trim and loading conditions, so consider keeping at a minimum 25% reserve fuel in the
tank.
Fuel tanks with levels less than 25% capacity can cause engine stalling problems due to fuel starvation
or by allowing sediment and dirt to enter the fuel supply lines. Keep the tank full and monitor the fuel
level often to prevent this from happening.
Primer Bulb
The primer bulb allows you to draw fuel from the tank to the engine when connecting the portable
tank or when fuel has been drained from the system. Refer to the instructions provided in the engine
manufacturer's handbook.
Ethanol—Blended Fuels
Ethanol is an oxygenated hydrocarbon compound that has a high octane rating and therefore is useful
in increasing the octane level of unleaded gasoline. The fuel system components of your Mercury
