3-3. Parameter Adjustment Guide
Problem
Erratic arc, ball at end of wire
too large at time of transfer to
weld puddle.
Wire shorting (stubbing) into Wire speed set too high.

Probable Cause
Arc Length control set too low.
Voltage set too high.
Wire speed set too low.
Distance from gun tip to work is too close.
Gun tip overheating.
Incorrect parameter settings.
Incorrect parameter settings.
Gun not connected to pulse weld terminal.
Remedy
Increase arc length setting slightly (see Section 3-1).
Decrease wire speed setting slightly (see Section 3-1).
Make fine adjustment to Arc Length control setting (see
Section 3-1).

and readjust parameters.
See parameter chart on inside of door or see Section 3-2,
and readjust parameters.
Increase distance between gun tip and work to
approximately 5/8 to 3/4 in (15.9 to 19 mm).
Increase distance between gun tip and work.
Set gas flow to 30 cfh (14 L/min).
Use a gun push angle of 10 to 15 degrees.

Check and reconnect gun weld cable if necessary (see
