USING YOUR COFFEE MAKER

BEFORE FIRST USE

  • Remove the iced coffee trivet from inside the carafe.
  • Remove all packaging materials and clean the funnel and carafe with non-abrasive soap. Thoroughly dry and replace parts. Wipe exterior with damp cloth.
  • Before brewing coffee for the first time, it is recommended to clean the system. Fill the water reservoir to the 12-cup mark and run a brew cycle without coffee; then discard water.
  • Ensure the funnel is completely dry before use.

SET THE CLOCK

  1. Press SET TIME. The hour will blink. Adjust the hour by pressing SET TIME, then wait 5 seconds for it to stop blinking. The minutes will then blink.
  2. Adjust the minutes by pressing SET TIME, then wait 5 seconds for it to stop blinking.
    NOTE: Press and hold the SET TIME to adjust the time rapidly.

PAUSE & SERVE

The carafe must be on the warming plate to begin brewing. During brewing, you can remove the carafe for serving, and the machine will temporarily stop dispensing.

Do not remove for more than a minute or the machine will overflow.


Do not open the lid while brewing is in process!
Do not touch the warming plate after brewing; it will be very hot! Only hold the carafe by the handle; the glass is very hot! Place the coffee maker on a stable, level, and heat-resistant surface.

BREW HOT COFFEE

  1. Open the water reservoir's lid.
  2. Fill the water reservoir. Follow the water window's markings to fill to your desired amount of cups.
    NOTE: Do not fill the water reservoir above the "12 MAX HOT" / maximum mark or below the "2 MIN" / minimum mark.
  3. Add pre-ground coffee into the filter. The suggested amount is 1 tbs. per cup. Add additional grounds for stronger coffee. Do not fill above the Max mark.
  4. Close the lid and place the carafe on the warming plate.
  5. Press BREW NOW. The Brew Light will blink while brewing. After brewing, keep warm mode will begin. The Brew Light will stay on during keep warm mode.

NOTE: To turn off keep warm mode at any time, press BREW NOW and ensure the Brew Light is off.

The features below are available when brewing hot coffee, and are disabled automatically when brewing iced coffee.

PROGRAM BREW LATER

Follow the steps below to program the coffee maker to brew up to 24 hours in advance.

NOTE: Ensure time is set.

  1. Steps 1-4 under BREW HOT COFFEE.
  2. Press BREW LATER; the Brew Later Light and the hour will blink.
  3. Adjust the hour by pressing SET TIME, then wait 5 seconds for it to stop blinking. The minutes will then blink.
  4. Adjust the minutes by pressing SET TIME, then wait 5 seconds for the minutes and the Brew Later Light to stop blinking. NOTE: Press and hold the SET TIME to adjust the time rapidly.
  5. To cancel brew later, press the BREW LATER again and the Brew Later
    Light will turn off.

KEEP WARM

Once brewing has completed, the keep warm mode will keep coffee hot for 2 hours and then the coffee maker will automatically turn off.

To turn off keep warm mode at any time, press BREW NOW and ensure the Brew Light is off.

FRESHNESS TIMER

While in keep warm mode, the freshness timer on the display counts up, showing the time since the coffee was brewed,

BREW ICED COFFEE

  1. Open the water reservoir's lid.
  2. Fill the water reservoir. Follow the water window's markings to fill to your desired number of servings. Refer to the table below for recommended amounts of water.
    NOTE: Do not fill the water reservoir above the "6 MAX ICED" / maximum mark or below the "2 MIN" / minimum mark.
  3. Add pre-ground coffee into the filter. Refer to the table below for recommended amounts of ground coffee.
    NOTE: The amounts in the table are recommendations. You can add additional grounds for a stronger coffee, or adjust the amount of water, provided you do not fill the water reservoir above the "6 MAX ICED" / maximum mark or below the "2 MIN" / minimum mark. You can also adjust the amount of ice, provided you do not add ice above the "6 MAX" / maximum mark on the carafe.
    Recommended amounts of ground coffee
  4. Close the lid and place iced coffee trivet on the warming plate.
  5. Gently add ice to the carafe to the desired line and place the ice-filled carafe on the iced coffee trivet. Refer to the table above for the recommended amount of ice.

    Gently place ice into the carafe. Dropping ice into the empty carafe can damage the glass.
  6. Press Over Ice and the Over Ice Later will turn on.
  7. Press BREW NOW. The Brew Light will blink while brewing.
  8. After brewing, remove the carafe and the iced coffee trivet from the warming plate.

CLEANING & MAINTENANCE

  • Always turn off the coffee maker, unplug the power cord from the outlet, and allow the appliance to cool before cleaning.
  • Do not immerse cord, plugs or coffee maker in water or other liquid.

Clean all removable parts after each use.

FUNNEL AND CARAFE
Clean with warm soapy water and a non-abrasive sponge.

INTERIOR
Use a sponge or non-metal brush to clean the inside of the coffee maker. Then wipe it dry with a soft cloth.

WARMING PLATE AND EXTERIOR
Use a damp cloth to clean the warming plate and exterior of the coffee maker. Then wipe it dry with a soft cloth.

Do not use harsh cleaning agents or metal brushes, in order to avoid scratching the stainless-steel surface.

NOTE: Ensure the funnel is completely dry before use.

DESCALE

  • Plug the coffee maker into an outlet.
  • Mix equal parts vinegar and water and pour it into the water reservoir. Close the lid. Place the carafe on the warming plate.
  • Press BREW NOW to start the cleaning process.
  • When the brewing process is complete, fill up the coffee maker with water and begin brewing again. This washes out any remaining vinegar.
  • If an odor of vinegar persists, run another cycle with water.
  • Use a soft sponge and baking soda to remove stains from the carafe. If the stains remain, mix 1 cup water, 1 cup vinegar and 1⁄4 cup of baking soda and allow it to sit in the carafe overnight.

STORAGE

  • Unplug the appliance and let it cool down.
  • Make sure all parts are clean and dry.
  • Store the appliance in a clean and dry place.

IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and/or injury,

including the following:

  1. Read all instructions.
  2. Do not touch hot surfaces, including the warming plate. Exercise caution. Use handles or knobs.
  3. To protect against fire, electric shock and injury to persons, do not immerse cord, plugs or coffee maker in water or other liquid.
  4. This appliance is not intended for use by children or by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used near children. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children.
  5. Never leave the appliance unattended when in use.
  6. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning.
  7. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.
  8. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions, or has been damaged in any manner. Return the appliance to an authorized service center for examination and repair.
  9. The use of an accessory not recommended by the appliance manufacturer for use with this appliance may result in fire, electrical shock or injury to persons.
  10. Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
  11. Do not place on or near a hot electric or gas burner, or in a heated oven.
  12. To disconnect the appliance, ensure the brew light is off and unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet. Do not disconnect by pulling on the cord.
  13. Do not use this appliance for anything other than its intended use.
  14. Scalding may occur if the lid is removed during the brewing cycles. Allow to cool before opening the lid.
  15. Keep your hands, face and other body parts away from the steam vent on the top of the coffee maker. The steam from the appliance becomes very hot during use. Do not cover the steam vent.
  16. Do not attempt to operate the appliance with an empty water reservoir.
  17. The carafe is designed for use with this appliance only. It must never be used on a range top.
  18. Do not set a hot carafe on a wet or cold surface.
  19. Do not use a damaged carafe or a carafe having a loose or weakened handle.
  20. Do not leave an empty carafe on the warming plate in keep warm mode.
  21. Ensure that the iced coffee trivet is underneath the ice-filled carafe before brewing coffee for iced coffee.
  22. Do not clean carafe or heating plate with cleansers, steel wool pads, or other abrasive materials.
  23. Check funnel and filter for presence of foreign objects before using.
  24. Do not use outdoors.
  25. FOR HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY

  26. TO REDUCE THE RISK OF FIRE OR ELECTRIC SHOCK, DO NOT REMOVE THE BOTTOM PANEL. NO USER–SERVICEABLE PARTS INSIDE. REPAIR SHOULD BE DONE BY AUTHORIZED SERVICE PERSONNEL ONLY.

CORD AND PLUG SAFETY

  • A short power-supply cord is provided to reduce risk of becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.
  • Extension cords may be used if care is exercised in their use.
  • If an extension cord is used:
    1. The marked electrical rating of the extension cord should be at least equal to the electrical rating of the appliance; and
    2. The longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over.

ELECTRICAL POLARIZED PLUG


This unit has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, the plug is intended to be used by inserting it into the electrical outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit securely into the outlet, reverse the plug and re-insert. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician for assistance. Do not modify the plug in any way.
