In this guide, we provide a simple, three-step path, to quickly get you up and running with your new Juniper Networks
ACX7100-48L Cloud Metro Router. We've simplified and shortened the installation and configuration steps, and
included how-to videos. You'll learn how to install an AC-powered ACX7100-48C in a rack, power it up, and configure

Meet the ACX7100-48L
The ACX7100-48L Cloud Metro Router is a high-performance router, featuring a 1-U form factor that provides high
port density, reliability, and scalability. You can deploy the router as an aggregation solution in a service provider metro
network or in a data center that hosts edge computing applications.

  • Page 2 With 48 SFP and 6 QSFP56-DD ports, the ACX7100-48L routers enable a wide variety of configurations that include support for 10-Gbps, 25-Gbps, 40-Gbps, 50-Gbps, 100-Gbps, and 400-Gbps speeds. We ship these routers with redundant power supplies. You can order ACX7100-48L routers with front-to-back airflow (AIR OUT or AFO) or back-to-front airflow (AIR IN or AFI), and with AC or DC power supplies.

    CAUTION: Ensure that a licensed electrician has attached the appropriate grounding lug to your grounding cable. Using a grounding cable with an incorrectly attached lug can damage the router. Install the ACX7100-48L in a Rack Here’s how to install the ACX7100-48L in a four-post rack: 1. Review the General Safety Guidelines and Warnings.
  • Page 4 NOTE: If you have unused ports, plug them using dust covers to prevent dust from entering the router. Power On Now that you’ve installed your ACX7100-48L in the rack, you’re ready to connect it to power. The AC-powered ACX7100-48L comes with two AC power supplies preinstalled on the rear panel.
  • Page 5 Connect the other end of the grounding cable to a proper earth ground, such as the rack. Dress the grounding cable and ensure that it doesn’t touch or block access to other device components, and that it doesn’t drape where people could trip over it. Ensure that the power supplies are fully inserted in the chassis and the latches are secure.

    Customize the Basic Configuration | 7 Now that the ACX7100-48L is powered on, let’s do some initial configuration to get it up and running on the network. It’s simple to configure and manage the ACX7100-48L using the CLI. You can also onboard and manage the ACX7100-48L by using Paragon Automation.
  • Page 7 • DCD State—Disregard Connect the console port on the ACX7100-48L to a laptop or desktop PC using the RJ-45 cable and RJ-45 to DB-9 adapter. The console (CON) port is the lower RJ-45 port on the right side of the port panel.
  • Page 8 NOTE: ZTP is enabled on the ACX7100-48L in the factory-default configuration. You must stop ZTP before you configure any settings. Until you assign a root password and make an initial commit, you might see ZTP- related messages on the console.
