    GETTING READY TO SEW UNPACKING 1. Place the machine on a sturdy, flat surface, remove the packaging and lift off the cover. 2. Remove the packing material and the foot control. 3. The machine is delivered with an accessory bag, a power cord and a foot control cord. 4.

    LOWER THE FEED TEETH The feed teeth are lowered when you move the switch on the front of the free arm to the right. Move the switch to the left if you wish to raise the feed teeth. The feed teeth will raise as you begin to sew.

    SPOOL PINS AND SPOOL CAPS Your sewing machine has two spool pins, a main spool pin and an auxiliary spool pin. The spool pins are designed for all types of thread. The main spool pin is adjustable and can be used in a horizontal position (the thread reels off the stationary spool) or in a vertical position (the thread spool rotates).

    CORRECT AND INCORRECT THREAD TENSION To understand the correct thread tension, sew a few sample straight stitches at different settings. 1. Begin with a tension that is too loose, i.e. set at the lowest number. The bobbin thread will lie straight and the top thread will be drawn to the underside of the fabric.

Smocking has been used since the Middle Ages and was commonly used in garments where buttons were undesirable. The fabric was gathered or pleated and the gathers were then held in place by different types of stitches.

    PICTOGRAM STITCHES The pictogram stitches (1:39-42) can be programmed and used to create stitch embroideries. Below, find a sample on how to create a flower using pictogram stitches. For best result when stitching pictogram stitches, use rayon embroidery thread on top and embroidery weight bobbin thread. Always use tear-away stabilizer underneath.

    QUILTING A quilt usually consists of three layers, two layers of fabric with a layer of batting sandwiched between. To sew three layers together, you have a wide variety of stitches and techniques to choose from. When the quilting is finished simply bind the edges or make it into cushions, wearable art or other smaller projects.

    POP-UP MESSAGES POP-UP MESSAGES Bobbin Winding On This pop-up message appears when the bobbin winding spindle is pushed to the right and bobbin winding is activated. Machine Set forTwin Needle When you have set the machine for twin needle in the SET Menu, a pop-up message is shown to remind you of the setting when you turn on your machine.
