Understanding Overall Air Quality

Overall Air quality is calculated based on the concentrations of dust and odor(gas) is categorized into 4
levels: green, yellow, orange, and red, depending on the contamination of the air.

NOTE
• The color that indicates overall air quality is determined based on the condition of the worst
concentration level between the dust concentration level and the odor concentration level.
• The level of concentration of PM (μg/m³) for LG Electronics products is the result of measuring the
quantity of dust using an optical method and converting the measurement into the concentration of
PM10 (μg/m³).
• The Ministry of Environment's dust figures are based on an average measurement of dust concentration
in the air in an environment over an hour or 24-hour period. The concentration levels of PM10, PM2.5
and PM1.0 displayed on the product are measured indoors in real time, so they may differ from the
Ministry of Environment's dust figures.
• The concentration of PM is expressed in steps of 1 from between 8 to 199 and it is expressed from
between 8 and 999 in the LG ThinQ Application. The concentration of PM was determined by referring
to the data sheet of the sensor manufacturer.
• The dust concentration criteria for PM1.0 were set based on the same criteria as PM2.5 (in the case of
LG Electronics)
• The concentrations of PM10 and PM2.5 displayed on the product may differ from the measurement
criteria for other measuring instruments and other projects.
– If the concentration of PM (μg/m³) is higher, the difference between the displayed concentration of
PM (μg/m³) and the actual concentration of PM (μg/m³) may increase.
• Overall air quality is displayed by a comprehensive evaluation of concentrations of PM (μg/m³) and
odors.
• When using different or identical products in the same space, air circulation may cause differences in
the displayed level of dust concentration.
• Unlike odors, fine dust spreads slowly, so the time at which the concentration of PM (μg/m³) is
measured may be delayed.
• The flow around the dust sensor interferes with the normal operation of the dust sensor, so the level of
dust concentration displayed may differ from the actual level of dust concentration.
