ABOUT FLEETSYNC

FleetSync is a signaling protocol that is integrated into Kenwood's 80-Series line of radios to
work with the on-board modem for signal modulation over the air-waves via two transceivers.
Furthermore, the modem is linked with the radio's CPU for serial communication between the
radio and a PC. This permits FleetSync-compatible application software to encode/decode
FleetSync messaging packets from/to the modem and to control appropriate radio operation. In
addition, each radio includes a second communication line that will receive NMEA-0183 GPS
location information and packetize it with the FleetSync ID and/or status information for
transmission over the air (mobiles only).

FLEETSYNC FEATURE SETS

FleetSync can operate in the Trunked or Conventional modes and is available with Basic and
Enhanced feature sets. The following table lists the features in each set:
IMPORTANT: SOME FLEETSYNC FEATURES CAN OPERATE BETWEEN KENWOOD FLEETSYNC
COMPATIBLE RADIOS WITHOUT THE AID OF SUPPORT SOFTWARE OR EQUIPMENT. HOWEVER, HIGHER
CAPACITY (E.G., MORE SELECTABLE PTT IDS WITH ALPHA-TAGS, MORE CANNED MESSAGE STORAGE,
ETC.) AND VERSATILITY ARE AVAILABLE WHEN AUGMENTED WITH SUCH SUPPORT ITEMS. THIS MAY
REQUIRE INSTALLING THE "ENHANCED" OPTION (SEE ADDITIONAL NOTE 11 ON NEXT PAGE).

2. The Basic feature set is included in all FleetSync-compatible radio firmware.
3. The Enhanced feature set includes all basic features and is an optional upgrade that can be
installed at Kenwood or in the field. See Kenwood price page labor codes.
4. "Yes" means that this feature requires support dispatch applications software and/or
equipment in order to be practically implemented in a radio system. "No" means that although
this feature will operate between FleetSync radios, installing support software/hardware will
provide optimum usage of all FleetSync protocols or the feature set.
