Installation
This amplifier is built for 19" racks (483 mm). This rack use should be a double-door rack where front panel
and rear panel can be opened. The rack should be provided with a cooling fan. When mounting the amplifier
into the rack, please make sure that there is enough space around the device so that the heated air can be
passed on. Steady overheating will damage your device. You can fix the amplifier with four screws M6 in the
rack. If several devices are to be installed, make sure that you leave 1 unit space between the devices.
Making the connections
High voltage at terminals when using 100V PA systems (model XDA-1204). Installation by skilled
personnel only! Turn off amplifier before connecting.
To avoid interfering noise, switch off the mixing amplifier or set the output controls to minimum prior to
connecting and disconnecting equipment. The amplifier is equipped with screw terminals; to facilitate
handling, it is possible to remove the screw terminals from their plug-in connections on the amplifier and to
reinsert them after connection.
1)
Operating mode (model XDA-1204): The connection of the inputs depends on the operating mode
selected. Before making any connections, select the operating mode for your application ( chapter 5).
2)
Inputs: Connect mono signal sources with line level (e. g. preamplifier) to the CH 1-4 or 1-6 XLR or
screw terminals. Balanced signal transmission will improve interference suppression; therefore, the
signal sources connected should be balanced. If the output of a source is unbalanced (e. g. for an RCA
jack), connect the terminals "−" and " " of the corresponding input with each other. Connect the signal
conductor to the terminal "+" of the input and the ground conductor to the terminal " ".
Note: For model XDA-1204 in bridge or 100 V operation, use jacks/terminals CH 1 and CH 3; and make
sure to feed the signal to one of the bridged inputs, never to both.
3)
Feed-through outputs: For parallel connection of a further PA amplifier, the feed-through outputs LINK
OUT can be used. Connect these outputs to the input of the subsequent PA amplifier.
4)
Speaker outputs: In stereo mode, the amplifier can operate 4/6 speakers or 4/6 speaker groups. The
speaker connection is made via plug-in screw terminals or, in the case of the XDA-1204 model,
optionally via speaker jacks. When using Speaker jacks, turn each plug to the right until it locks into
place. For unlocking, pull the unlock button and turn the plug to the left.
Model XDA-1204 can be switched over to bridge operation to supply the double output power. Then it
operates as 2-channel amplifier and supplies power to two 8 Ω speakers or two 8 Ω speaker groups.
Use the two positive poles of the terminals (1+/2+ or 3+/4+) of the channel pair for the connection.
Alternatively, it is possible to operate two 100V PA speakers or speaker groups with model XDA-1204.
In this case, use the two positive poles of the terminals (1+/2+ or 3+/4+) for the connection.
Notes: Always use sufficiently dimensioned cables (min. 2.5 mm²). When interconnecting several
speakers, it is especially important to consider the correct connection to positive and negative contacts
and that the minimum total impedance is 4 Ω for stereo and parallel operation, and 8 Ω for bridge
operation. Please refer to skilled personnel if you are not familiar with the connection of several
speakers.
