StarSight
Entire show did not record
Recordings of all episodes of a series are
cancelled, but new episodes for that same series
are still being recorded
A red question mark appears on a program title
in the Recordings List
Can't see videotape picture when playing back on
the VCR
Program wasn't recorded
Here's what to try:
• Make sure you have enough tape to record the whole program.
• StarSight records programs based upon the scheduled start and stop times. If
you think a program is going to run overtime, you should extend the ending
time of the recording. See page 38.
• You must cancel the whole series from the Series Recordings list. See page 40.
• The program information in the Recordings List does not match the program
information in the Grid Guide. Position the highlight bar on the question
mark and press GUIDE to see the program that will be recorded. If you don't
want to record this program, return to the Recordings List and cancel the
recording. See page 39.
• Check the connections between your TV and VCR.
• Make sure your TV is tuned to either channel 3 or 4 (whichever number
matches the switch on the back of your VCR).
• If you have connected your VCR to your TV using audio/video cables, use
your TV remote control to select the VIDEO input source.
• Make sure that your VCR's channel 3/4 switch matches your Cable box's
output channel if you have one.
• Make sure you have a videotape with tape remaining and the safety tab is
intact.
• Check the placement of the cable box adapter. Position the cable box adapter
on top of your cable box as close to the sensor as possible (with the logo
facing upward). The cable box adapter should extend as far out as possible
over the front edge of the cable box.
• Make sure you are confirming the recordings when you schedule a program
for recording.
• If you do not schedule a recording from a StarSight screen, you may be
creating a VCR recording that conflicts with a StarSight recording.
Suggestion: Use either the VCR system or StarSight system to schedule
recordings, but not both.
• If you have scheduled a VCR recording to occur at the same time as a
StarSight recording, the StarSight recording will take precedence.
• When you extend recording into a subsequent time period, the remainder of
that time period can no longer be scheduled for a recording. StarSight
indicates this by shading the entire period in red.
