Here's what to try:
• Make sure VCR or cable box is tuned to the PBS channel in your area for
schedule reception.
• Leave your cable box on at all times.
• Make sure your VCR and/or cable box is plugged into an outlet that is not
controlled by a light switch.
• Do not plug your VCR into the back of your cable box.
• Check to see if you have followed all of the User Guide's instructions for your
particular video equipment
• Make sure you have followed all steps for StarSight setup and activation.
• Make sure the cable box adapter is plugged into the OUT TO CABLE BOX
jack on the back of your VCR.
• Check the placement of your cable box adapter. Position the cable box
adapter on top of your cable box as close to the sensor as possible. The cable
box adapter should extend as far out as possible over the front edge of the
cable box.
• Make sure you have tried all codes for your brand of cable box. See page 46.
• Make sure your TV or VCR is not plugged into the back of the cable box or
into a power outlet that is controlled by a light switch.
• Leave your cable box on at all times.
• Check the connections between your TV, VCR and/or cable box.
• Make sure your TV is set to the channel that allows you to watch cable
(usually channel "3, " "4," or LINE input).
• Make sure the VCR is in the VCR mode. Press the SELECT VCR button on
the remote. Also, make sure the VCR indicator lights in the display; if not,
press the TV/VCR button.
• Wait until program information is collected during the scheduled data
reception time period. To modify the schedule data reception period, see
page 42.
• Your VCR lost power momentarily. The time and date is corrected
automatically (VCR clock resets) when power is restored and your VCR
collects the program information. The background color returns to white
when the correct time is displayed.
• StarSight may not have received all the program information. Information is
collected during scheduled reception period.
• If your VCR has lost power or been unplugged for more than 30 minutes,
StarSight program information will disappear. To collect information, simply
plug your VCR power cord back into the electrical outlet and restore power.
• Call the StarSight Help Desk at 1-800-628-STAR or fax corrections directly to
