Configuring Inquiry Strings

The DAT24 tape drive returns different inquiry strings, based on the setting of Switch 7 (see Table 5
on page 27).

Either setting for Switch 7 can be used, but the correct inquiry string must be entered in the System
Configuration information. For simplicity, the ARCHIVE Python string is used in the following sec-
tions. If Switch 7 is set to ON, change the string to "SEAGATE DAT."
NOTE: There are three spaces at the end of "SEAGATE DAT " to give the same overall length
as the "ARCHIVE Python" inquiry string. Be sure to insert four spaces between DAT and 04106
when the full inquiry string is required.
Table 6 on page 27 shows the PRTNO value in the inquiry string for the DAT24 tape drive. When
you make the actual kernel modifications, replace PRTNO with the required number:
