8.6 Troubleshooting
PROBLEM
1- Pump cycles at stall
or fails to hold
pressure at stall.
2- Pump will not cycle,
or cycles once and
stops.
3- Pump operates
erratically.
4- Air bubbles in fluid.
5- Fluid in exhaust air.
6- Pump frequently
stops running.
7- Pump stops working
and exhausts air.
8- Pump leaks fluid
externally from
manifold body
connects.
9- Diaphragm moves
to inside of the pump,
and fluid leaks from
the openings.

CAUSE
Worn check valve balls, seats or o-rings.
Air valve is stuck or dirty.
Check valve ball severely worn and
wedged in seat or manifold.
Check valve ball is wedged into seat, due
to overpressurization.
Dispensing valve is clogged.
Suction line is clogged.
Sticky or leaking ckeck valve balls.
Diaphragm is ruptured.
Pump is sucking air.
Restricted exhaust.
Suction line is loose.
Diaphragm is ruptured.
Loose inlet manifold, damaged seal
between manifold and seat, or damaged o-
rings.
Loose diaphragm shaft bolt.
Damaged o-ring.
Diaphragm is ruptured.
Loose diaphragm shaft bolt.
Damaged o-ring.
Insufficient hose diameter.
Too much hose length.
Air valve is stuck or dirty.
Air valve teflon o-rings are worn.
Pilot valve o-rings are worn.
Air inlet pressure and flow are not enough. Rise the pressure and flow.
Loose manifolds, damaged o-ring between
manifold and seat.
Fluid outlet is clogged or outlet valve is
closed when the pump is under pressure.
Max. air pressure is exceeded.
The fluid temperature is above the working
limits. Adjust the air pressure according to
the fluid temperature.
SOLUTION
Replace.
Disassamble and clean air valve. Use
ONLY filtered air.
Replace ball and seat.
Install a pressure relief valve.
Relieve pressure and clean valve.
Inspect; clean.
Clean or replace.
Replace.
Check inlet hose and inlet manifold o-
rings.
Remove restriction.
Tighten.
Replace.
Tighten manifold bolts, or replace
seats or o-rings.

Replace.
Get a larger diameter hose.
Use a shorter hose.
Disassamble and clean air valve. Use
filtered air.
Disassamble and replace z-rings.
Disassamble and replace o-rings.
Replace o-rings, tighten manifold bolts.
Clean the outlet line or open the fluid
outlet valve.
Lower the air pressure.
