Intended Use

2.6 Safety information for operating personnel

No operational mode which could compromise the
safety of the roller driver may be undertaken.
It is the responsibility of the operator to ensure that no
unauthorised personnel work on the roller driver (e.g.
also by working on equipment in a manner contrary to
authorised use).
It is the responsibility of the operator to check the roller
driver at least once before use (once a day) for exter-
nally apparent damage or defects and to report any
changes (including to the way the machine is operating)
which are likely to compromise safety.
It is the responsibility of the operator to ensure that the
the roller driver is operated only in perfect order and
condition.
It is the responsibility of the operator to insist that oper-
ating personnel must wear protective clothing wherever
necessary.
Under no circumstances must safety devices be re-
moved or put of operation (potential risk of serious
crushing, danger to life).
If it is necessary to remove any safety devices for fitting,
repair or maintenance work, they must be re-installed
immediately after maintenance or repair is complete.

2.7 Safety labels

The following safety signs are applied on the roller driver
(Fig. 1), which need to be observed and followed.

If safety labels on the machine are damaged or missing,
this can cause errors, personal injury and material
damage. The safety symbols attached to the machine
must not be removed. Damaged safety symbols must
be replaced immediately.
As soon as the signs are not clearly visible and com-
prehensible at first glance, the machine must be stop-
ped until new signs have been attached.

2.8 Checks

Periodic inspections of equipment, cranes and suppor-
ting structures by an expert must be carried out once a
year. In severe operating conditions, e.g. frequent ope-
ration with full load, dusty or aggressive environment,
the test distances must be shortened.
The entry in the crane test book must be made for
repairs and tests that have been carried out.

Intended Use
The roller driver is used exclusively for transporting sus-
pended loads up to the specified maximum load on a
suitable steel girder. The initial and final position of the
transport path must be secured with path limits (stops).
The roller driver only be operated by instructed persons.
Intended use also includes compliance with all informa-
tion in these instructions. Any use beyond the intended
use or any other use is considered misuse. The
transport of persons is strictly prohibited.
Stürmer Maschinen GmbH accepts no liability for de-
sign and technical modifications to the roller driver
Claims of any kind due to damage due to improper use
are excluded.

3.1 Foreseeable misuse

When the roller driver is used in accordance with its in-
tended purpose, no reasonably foreseeable misuse is
possible which could lead to dangerous situations with
personal injury.

3.2 Residual risks

Even if all safety regulations are observed, the residual
risks described below remain during operation of the
roller driver.
All persons working with the roller drivermust be aware
of these residual risks and follow the instructions to pre-
vent these residual risks from leading to accidents or
damage:
- During operation there is a risk of crushing the up-
per and lower limbs.
- It may be necessary to dismantle protective equip-
ment provided by the customer during set-up and
set-up work. This results in various residual risks
and hazard potentials, which every operator must
be aware of.
