Basic Stitching

Straight stitches are used for sewing plain seams.
• Using the table below, refer to "Using the utility
stitch tables in the "Sewing" section" in the "Basic
operations" section.

* Stitch patterns can be selected directly by pressing the
numeric keys on the machine during preset utility stitch
mode. Refer to "Basic operations" section.

Basting

When using Model 1: Sew basting with the preset stitch length
of 5 mm (3/16 inch).
When using Model 2 or 3: Sew basting with a stitch length
between 5 mm (3/16 inch) and 30 mm (1-3/16 inches).

• If the basting threads fall out of the fabric, pull up
the bobbin thread before sewing, and then pull
the upper thread and bobbin thread under the
presser foot toward the back of the machine (refer
to "Pulling up the bobbin thread" in the "Basic
operations" section). Hold the upper thread and
bobbin thread when beginning to sew, and when
finished sewing, cut the threads leaving an excess
amount of thread.
Finally, hold the upper thread and bobbin thread
at the beginning of the stitching while arranging
the fabric.
Basic stitching

Baste or pin together the fabric pieces.

Attach zigzag foot "J".

Select a stitch.
d
Lower the needle into the fabric at the beginning of the
stitching.
e
Lower the presser foot lever, and then start sewing.
f
When sewing is finished, cut the thread.
