7. Usage
Danger! Work only with a fully assembled tool.
When you want to carry out work on the tool itself,
always wear protective gloves and use the
supplied blade guards to protect yourself against
injury.
Before each use you must check that:
The safety devices and the cutting device are
in perfect condition and complete.
All screws are securely fastened.
All moving parts move smoothly.
Never use equipment which is obviously
damaged.
7.1 Working with the pole chain saw
Preparations
To ensure that you can work safely, check the
following points before every use:
Condition of the pole chain saw
Before you start your work, check the pole chain
saw for damage to the housing, the saw chain
and the bar. Never use equipment which is
obviously damaged.
Oil tank
Check the oil level in the oil tank. Both before and
during your work make sure that there is always
suffi cient oil in the system. To avoid damaging the
chain saw, never run the saw if there is no oil in
the system or if the oil level drops below the "min"
mark. On average, a single fi lling will last for 15
minutes depending on the number of pauses in
cutting and the loads involved.
Saw chain
Check the tension of the saw chain and the
condition of the cutting elements. The sharper the
saw chain, the easier and more controllable it is
to operate the pole chain saw. The same applies
to the chain tension. For greater safety you must
check the chain tension at least every 10 minutes
during your work. New chains in particular tend to
expand more.
Safety clothing
Always wear appropriate tight-fi tting safety
clothing such as special trousers which protect
against cuts, protective gloves and safety shoes.
