Allow the engine to cool.

Open the hood.
Removing the Air Filter
1.
Clean around the air filter cover to prevent
dirt from getting into the engine and causing
damage.
2.
Unscrew the knobs and remove the air filter
cover
(Figure
22).

Lift the end of the filter to remove the filter
(Figure

Cleaning the Air Filter
1.
Inspect the air filter for tears, and oily film, or
damage to the rubber seal.
2.
To loosen the debris, gently tap the filter on a
hard surface. If the filter is excessively dirty,
replace it with a new filter.
Important:
Never clean the paper element with
pressurized air or liquids such as solvents,
gasoline, or kerosene. Replace the air filter if it is
damaged or cannot be cleaned thoroughly.
Installing the Air Filter
1.
Install the air filter into the engine base and push
down until the filter snaps in place.
2.
Install the air filter cover and knobs
3.
Close the hood.

Servicing the Engine Oil

Oil Type: Detergent oil (API classification SJ or higher)
Crankcase capacity: 1.9 L (64 oz.)
Viscosity: See the oil table
Checking the Engine Oil Level
Service Interval: Before each use or daily
1.
Park the machine on a level surface.
2.
Disengage the blades (PTO).
3.
Set the parking brake.
4.
Stop the engine and wait for all moving parts to
stop.
5.
Remove the ignition key.
6.
Open the hood.
7.
Clean around the dipstick
dirt cannot fall into the filler hole and damage
the engine.
