Understanding the Safety Interlock
System
The safety interlock system is designed to prevent the
engine from starting unless:
You are sitting on the seat.
The brake pedal is depressed.
The blade control (PTO) knob is in the Disengaged
position.
The traction control pedal is in the Neutral position.
The safety interlock system stops the engine if you
rise from the seat and the traction control pedal is not
in the Neutral position, the parking brake is not set,
or the blade control (PTO) knob is in the Engaged
position.
The safety interlock system is designed to stop the
mower if:
You shift into Reverse with the blades (PTO)
engaged.
You remove the bag or dump the grass.
Setting the KeyChoice
Operate in Reverse
The interlock feature on the machine prevents the
power take-off (PTO) from operating when you back
up the machine. If you operate the machine in reverse
with the blades (PTO) engaged (i.e., with the mower
blades or other attachment running), the blades will
stop. Do not mow in reverse unless it is absolutely
necessary.
If you need to use the blades (PTO) while backing
up, turn off the interlock feature using the KeyChoice
switch located near the seat bracket
