High voltage flameproof motors for explosive atmosphere
AMD Rg 355-400-450-500
General information about motor identification and Ex-Markings
IM 2001: motor with horizontal axis, frame with feet down and 1 flange
IM 3001: motor with horizontal axis and flanged face on DE side
IM 1011: motor with vertical axis, frame with vertical feet
IM 3011/4011: motor with vertical axis and flanged face on the lower side
On the motors are installed terminal boxes for supply cable connections, main and/or star point terminal box and
for the auxiliary terminal boxes. The motor can be equipped with auxiliary devices (e.g. thermal detectors,
vibration detectors, anti-condensation heaters, etc.).
The protection types available are:
IECEx scheme
Ex db IIC (or IIB) T5...T1 Gb
Ex db eb IIC (or IIB) T5...T1 Gb
Ex tb IIIC T125°C...T150°C Db
Ex db I Mb
NOTE: T5 only for AMD Rg 355-400-450
ATEX scheme
NOTE: T5 only for AMD Rg 355-400-450
When Ex-i RTDs (that are certified as Ex-component) are required in the stator winding, the motor marking
includes the level of protection ib in the marking above.
Motors are designed to respect the following requirements stated in:
IEC 60079-0 – Explosive Atmosphere – Part 0: Equipment - General requirements
IEC 60079-1 – Explosive atmosphere – Part 1: Equipment protection by Explosion-proof enclosure "d"
IEC 60079-7 – Explosive atmosphere – Part 7: Equipment protection by increased safety "e"
IEC 60079-11 – Explosive atmosphere – Part 11: Equipment protection by intrinsic safety "i"
IEC 60079-31 – Explosive atmosphere – Part 31: Equipment dust ignition protection by enclosure "t"
The design also fulfils the relevant requirements from Annex II of ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU for products
categories II 2G, II 2D and I M2 with the protection mode of following standards:
EN 60079-0 – Explosive Atmosphere – General Requirements
EN 60079-1 – Explosive atmosphere – Part 1: Equipment protection by Explosion-proof enclosure "d"
EN IEC 60079-7 – Explosive Atmosphere – Equipment protection by increased safety protection "e"
EN 60079-11 – Explosive atmosphere – Part 11: Equipment protection by intrinsic safety "i"
EN 60079-31 – Explosive Atmosphere – Part 31: Equipment dust ignition protection by enclosure "t"
The standards revisions and year has been stated on motor certificates and stated in the Declaration of
Conformity.
The complete identification code for the single motor type is composed by 12 digits. Refer to table 1 for details.
