Connect power cables
The rack that contains the DM5500 should contain two PDUs that are each connected to different power sources for
redundancy. Redundant power sources allow one AC source to fail or be serviced without impacting appliance operation. On the
DM5500, connect PSU 0 to one AC source, and PSU 1 to the other AC source.
NOTE:
You are only connecting the power cables, you are not powering on the DM5500. You power on the appliance in the

Connect iDRAC cable
Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller (iDRAC) configuration and cabling provides an out-of-band method for remote
management. iDRAC configuration and cabling may be required for Dell support engineers to debug and troubleshoot. The
iDRAC port on the DM5500 is 1 GbE Base-T.
iDRAC configuration is strongly recommended because iDRAC can be used:
● To power the appliance on and off for required maintenance activities.
● By Dell support to gather detailed information about the state of the hardware.
CAUTION:
If you do not configure iDRAC, Dell support response time will be impacted.
The DM5500 has one iDRAC connection/hostname (1 GbE RJ45). The 1 GbE management switch to which the iDRAC cable
connects must have RJ45 connections. One CAT5e/CAT6 cable is required to connect the iDRAC port to the network switch.
You can use any type of switch, as long as it is an RJ45 switch that supports 1 GbE and VLAN. You should connect the iDRAC
port to the external (routable) network VLAN.
Connect network cables
To deploy the DM5500, there are requirements and considerations for onsite networking, switches, and cabling.
The DM5500 recommended configuration requires five network cables to the customer's network; one iDRAC connection and
four network connections. The four network connections include two for the DM5500 management traffic and two for data
traffic.
