GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING Engine Compression (See Figs. 1-2) Low compression will cause erratic idling, low power, and hard starting when hot. To test the engine compression: ■ Remove the spark plug cap. Fully cover the spark plug using the provided socket wrench. Rotate the wrench counter-clockwise to remove the spark plug (Fig.

If not, check the gap between the rotor and the ignition coil following below steps. ■ Rotate the socket wrench counter-clockwise to remove the 5 screws on the rear engine cover. Then remove the rear engine cover (Fig.

(0.35mm) between the flywheel and the ignition coil, then rotate the flywheel and align the magnetic pole of the flywheel with the ignition coil.

Release the start button to stop the electric motor (Fig. 80). NOTE: When the start button remains pressed, the electric motor will run for about 5 seconds then it will stop automatically.

After every 25 hours of use, check the level of grease (XHP 223) inside the gear box and outside the axle. Add approximately 0.01 lbs. (5 g) of grease (XHP 223) if necessary (Fig. 88). The gear head of the straight shaft grass trimmer (NPTGSP2517A) has a left hand rotation. The screw thread specification is M10×1.25-LH.
