  • Page 12: In The Box

In The Box In the Urano box should be: -Urano itself -A power supply –Multi plug –Works in most countries. If any of these items are missing, please get in touch with Gotharman’s.
  • Page 13: Introduction

And it connects to your Eurorack... Unlike the Anamono X, which had 2 separate bus systems, one for audio and one for modulation, Urano only has one bus, that handles both audio and modulation, so everything can be connected to everything.
  • Page 14: Some Features

Urano's auto functions. 8 Parts The modules can be arranged into 8 parts, to make it possible to make tracks on Urano with 8 different sounds. Any module can be used by any part, and the modules can even be used by multiple parts at the same time.
  • Page 15: Cleaning

Cleaning For cleaning your instrument, to my experience it is best to use some standard windows cleaner, which usually comes as a spray bottle. Before you use it, please make sure, that it contains no alcohol. Spray a little of this on a cloth and clean. DO NOT USE any kind of alcohol or any of these alcohol wipes, which has become popular under the current pandemic.
  • Page 16: Getting Started

Getting Started Connecting Urano On the back panel of your Urano, you will find the power switch, connection for power supply, audio inputs and outputs and MIDI in and out. Audio In L and R The two rightmost 1/4” jack connectors, marked “AUDIO IN R L” are always the stereo audio inputs.
  • Page 17 Connect any line stereo/mono audio sources to these audio inputs, for sampling and/or processing through Urano’s effects and optional analog filters. This set of inputs are mixed with the audio inputs 3 and 4 minijacks on the Urano top panel. Audio Out 3 and 4 An extra set of audio outputs, that like the first set, outputs line level audio.
  • Page 18 To import a .wav file from another device, it must be: -Mono or stereo -44.1 KHz sample rate – Urano will import other sample rates, but they will play back in a wrong speed -16 bit or 24 bit native PCM...
  • Page 19 Top panel connectors On the Urano top panel, you will find a number of mini jack connectors. These are mainly there to make it possible to connect Urano to a Eurorack system, but you can, of course, connect it to anything analog.

  • Page 88: Percussion Synthesizer

Percussion Synthesizer 6 of the oscillator types are dedicated to generate percussion sounds. In this chapter, I will go through some of the intended possibilities with these oscillator types. The 6 Percussion Oscillator types: Perc: Percussion oscillator 1. This outputs 2 percussion waves, that can be detuned from each other, and noise FM can be applied.
  • Page 89 Cym2: Cymbal2. By combining FM and ring modulation, this can make cymbal sounds that are a bit more aggressive than cymbal 1. Clap: A handclap oscillator. A noise source is shaped by a “clap envelope”. The speed and the amount of the clap envelope can be adjusted, together with the noise PW. Sound ideas / Start points If you would like to start from scratch, designing sounds with the Percussion Synthesizer, or you just want to get an idea of, how specific sounds can be generated, here are some ideas.

This will create a different cymbal sound on almost any key, so by adjusting the Tune parameter, you will obtain different sounds Tweak the parameters, to obtain different cymbal flavors.
  • Page 92: Quadrature Oscillators

Quadrature Oscillators Oscillator 1 and 2 each has an additional quadrature output. These are sine waves, that is shifted 45 degrees from the original waveform. Can be used to create some special effects, like a frequency shifter. These does not have any additional parameters. They just outputs to the audio/modulation bus.

History In the Christmas holidays 2020 I couldn't go anywhere on holidays, because of the pandemic travel restrictions, so I could right as well assemble a eurorack system. I did not have room for this on my studio desk, so I placed it on my computer desk. Soon I realized, that I needed a keyboard, a sequencer, and I would also like to have a sampler.
  • Page 551 I started out by putting a Tiny LD into a large plastic box, and added a slightly larger display, for better touch keyboard action. This was however too big for my desk, and felt quite impractical. So I was putting the Tiny LD back in a Tiny LD case.
