Input Devices

It is important to understand that the controls for the input cards resides in software devices inside the X-Ware application.
The software devices are standard with the MM-Mic4 and MM-Line4 products, while custom devics are supplied for the MM-
AEC4 and MM-NC4 input cards.
In the case of the MM-Line4 and MM-Mic4, the input controls reside in the "Local Inputs" block. From the pull-down menu,
select Device | Input-Output | Local | Inputs & Outputs. Click anywhere on the screen to place both the input and output
audio blocks. Double clicking on these blocks will open them, and expose their controls.
Double click on the green "Local Inputs" block. You should see a control panel like the one in Fig. X, below.

The Mute and Level controls shown in Fig. X are for the line level inputs ONLY. The corresponding controls are automatically
active when a MM-Line4 input card installed. Additional controls are hidden the the blue blocks below the controls. These
controls have functionality that varies based on the type of input card installed. For line level applications, only the Full-Scale
Input and Analog Trim controls are active. See the section on Gain Structure on page X for more information on these controls.
When an MM-Mic4 is installed, an additional set of controls becomes active. These controls, located inthe Mic Pre Amp block
include specific functionality for microphone level inputs.

The Microphone preamplifier controls include mic-level gain and phantom power on/off buttons. It is important to note that
only the Analog Trim controls are still active when using the MM-Mic4. The level, mute and Full-Scale Input controls are dis-
abled when the MM-Mic4 is installed. Even if the controls gesture, they are NOT active when using the MM-Mic4.
If you encounter an X-Frame 88 and aren't sure about what input cards are installed, you can easily tell by looking at the rear
panel input header block. The block on the MM-Line4 is black, while the header on the MM-Mic4 is green. There is no other
way to determine what input card is installed.
