GETTING STARTED

Switching the walkie-talkies on and off
To turn the walkie-talkies on and off, hold down the on/off button for 2 to 3 seconds. You will hear a musical tone each time to confirm. The screen will display the channel number (1 to 3).

How to use your walkie-talkies

The walkie-talkies have three channels, numbered 1 to 3, displayed on the LED screen. To communicate with other users within range, you must all have your walkie-talkies tuned to the same channel. Make sure both walkie-talkies are on the same channel by holding down the channel button for 2 to 3 seconds.
To talk to your partner, hold down the talk button. Make sure you let go of the talk button when you are done talking; this will let your partner communicate back. PMR transmission is 'one way-at-a-time' - while you are speaking, you cannot receive a transmission. You will achieve best results if you hold the walkie-talkie 1.5 to 2.5 inches away from your mouth and speak at a normal volume and tone.
If you need to call your partner to get their attention, push the call button. It will send a ring tone to other handsets within range and tuned to the same channel, and alert them that you want to communicate with them.
Push down the flashlight button to use the LED light when playing in the dark.

Special functions

  • Auto-squelch function: Attenuate the background and signal noise while in reception mode, to place you in a comfortable conversation.
  • One-to-one, one-to-many communication function: You can communicate with one other walkie-talkie (included), but also with several others (not included in the box). You only have to make sure that they are all tuned to the same channel, by holding down the channel button for 2 to 3 seconds.

Transmitting range

  • The talk range depends on environmental and terrain. It will be greatest (up to about 5 km or 3.1 miles) in wide open spaces, without obstructions such as hills or buildings. If you are having issues with communicating, it is recommended to be in a location with less traffic and less surrounding noise.
  • Don't try to use two walkie-talkies which are less than 1.5m (5 feet) apart. lf you do, you may get interference.
  • PMR446 is an open-license band - always identify yourself when transmitting, as other people may be communicating on the same channel.
