General Information
This chapter describes setting up and operating your ECal system. The
information includes connecting the equipment, installing the software
and using the ECal system to calibrate an HP vector network analyzer
(VNA). This chapter also illustrates and explains the features and
functions of the ECal system. Instructions for setting up the PC and
using the PC software are also located in this chapter.
Theory of Operation
The ECal system determines systematic errors of a VNA through a
single connection of the ECal module to the VNA test ports.
ECal modules are solid state, two-port devices that are capable of
calibrating your VNA for a variety of calibration routines. The
calibration routines generate error correction data that are stored
within the VNA. The data is then used to compute actual device
response by eliminating systematic error contributions.
Compatible Vector Network Analyzers
The ECal system is designed to work with a variety of HP vector
network analyzers. Compatible models are listed in
