Introduction and Safety

Introduction

The 3AH family of vacuum circuit breakers is designed to
meet a l l the applicable ANSI, N EMA a n d IEEE standards.
Successful a pplication and operation of this equipment de
pends as much upon proper installation a n d maintenance by
the user as it does upon the careful design and fabrication
by Siemens.
The pu rpose of this Instruction Manual is to assist the user
in developing safe and efficient procedures for the installa
tion, ma intena nce and use of the equ ipment.
NOTE: IEEE Standards Requ irements for Conversion of
Power Switchgear Equ ipment ( C37.59); Siemens has devel
oped instruction manuals for particular replacement circuit
breaker drawout vehicles, consult factory.
Contact the nearest Siemens representative if a ny a d d itional
information is desired.
Hazardous voltages and high-speed
moving parts.
Will cause death, personal injury or
property damage.
Only qualified persons thoroughly fa miliar
with the equipment, instruction m a n uals and
d rawings should install, operate and/or main-
tain this equipment.

Qualified Person

For the pu rpose of th is manual a Qualified Person is one
who is familiar with the installation, construction or opera
