If you are going to be turning off the water to the house and you have an electric water heater, shut off the power to the water heater before beginning installation in case water heater is accidentally drained. -

8. Lubricate the main tank O-ring with silicone grease and screw on the 7500-REV2.5 control valve carefully. Do not use pipe-joint compound, vegetable oil, Teflon tape, or Vaseline or other greases to lubricate tank threads. - Page 9 14. Add 5 gallons of water and at least one bag (40 or 50 lbs) softener salt (crystals or pellets) to brine tank. Brine tank can be filled with salt to within 6” of top but at least put in one bag. 15.
