8. First start-up

Before using the electrically power assisted cycle, in addition to checking the charge state and the correct installation of
the battery, in order to ensure an adequate street use and to guarantee an efficient and safe utilisation of the product, it is
always recommended to
carefully check each component and carry out the necessary adjustment interventions of the respective mechanical parts,
either directly or requesting the support of specialised operators, such as: adjustment and tightening of the saddle
and of the seat post channel, adjustment and tightening of the handlebar and of the handlebar attachment, brake adjust-
ment, gear change adjustment, chain and gear lubrication, checking wheels and tyre pressure, general checking of the
correct tightening of the fixing screws, quick release and pass-through pins, in addition to an overall checking that all parts
are in order.
Saddle
The position on the bicycle is very important to ensure the optimal comfort when using the bike, correct pedalling and to
avoid any safety problems.
It is, therefore, important that the saddle and the seat post are positioned and adjusted to suit the rider.
The saddle can be adjusted in height, forward position and angle.
To adjust the saddle height, it is necessary to loosen the clamp that tightens the seat post channel to the frame and raise
it or lower it according to your own needs, tanking care to not extract it beyond the limit marked on the same to avoid the
risk of eventual damage to the frame; once the desired position is defined, having in mind the precautions concerning the
extraction of the seat post channel,
provide its fixing by tightening the respective clamp up to the correct strength to prevent it from being mobile and/or
unstable.
Generally speaking, the best way to adjust the height of the saddle is to check that when your foot is placed on the pedal at
its lowest point, your leg is almost completely extended.
To adjust the angle and how far forward the saddle is positioned, loosen the relevant fastening mechanism in the seat post
bracket, so you can tilt the saddle and move it forward as desired. Then, tighten the fastening system to avoid any play or
movement.
Handlebars
The handlebar can be adjusted in height and inclination by working on the relative fixing systems on the handlebar attach-
ment.
To adjust the handlebar in height, it is necessary to loosen the collar that tightens the telescopic handlebar column allowing
extraction or insertion to raise or lower the handlebar until the desired position is defined by tightening the relative collar
until it is not mobile.
To adjust the angle of the handlebars, loosen the clamp on the stem, rotate the handlebars until the desired position is
reached and secure it by tightening the clamp until it can no longer be moved.
Brakes
The braking system installed on the product provides for the presence of mechanical disc brakes that can be operated on the
front wheel and on the rear wheel through the corresponding levers positioned on the handlebar, individually equipped with
a device (cut-off sensor) through which, by operating the brake lever to which it is connected, the immediate disengagement
of the propulsive action of the motor takes place.
The brake lever on the right side of the handlebar activates the rear brake and stops the rear wheel whereas the brake lever
on the left side of the handlebar activates the front brake and stops the front wheel.
The front and rear brake levers must be positioned and adjusted so they are comfortable to use and favour the natural
position of the hand and fingers used to pull them, thus minimising the force and amount of time required to pull the brake
lever whilst ensuring that the brake is applied evenly.
Check the operation of the brakes with a low speed brake test (max 6km/h) in an obstacle-free zone.
As the progressive state of wear of the brake pads installed on the relative callipers reduce their thickness, the correspon-
ding brake levers will require a greater stroke to exert the same braking force and will be automatically compensated by the
valve system the braking system is equipped with, thus guaranteeing the same braking efficiency until the pads are worn out
and need to be replaced.
Gear change and drive
The cable gear change system supplied with the product is indexed and allows you to change the gear ratio and pedal stroke
metrics by adjusting the control device on the handlebar, determining the sideways movement of the chain on the correspon-
ding sprocket of the cassette installed on the rear wheel via the derailleur.
