Introduction
The purpose of this manual is to help you use the 85110L S-parameter test set effectively
and confidently. The 85110L is specially configured for operation in pulsed-RF
measurement systems. Four 70-dB step attenuators protect each input of the
fundamentally-mixed down-converter to allow measurement of test devices with output
power of 50 watts CW.
This manual may be inserted into the "Test Sets" section of the 8510C Test Set and
Accessories Manual.

Verifying the Test Set

The 85110L has been designed to operate with 8510C network analyzers.
To install the instrument, refer to Chapter 2, "Installation."
To check the proper operation of the test set, perform the system operational test as
described in the Operation section of 85108L System Manual. A successful calibration is an
indication that the system and the test set are both operating properly.
To see the specifications of the pulsed-RF network analyzer system with this test set, refer
to Specifications and Performance Verification section of the 85108L System Manual.
To verify that the instrument meets its published specifications, refer to the Performance
Tests section in the 85108L System Manual calibration.
To troubleshoot the test set, refer to Chapter 5, "Test Set Troubleshooting," and the System
Service and Troubleshooting section of the 85108L System Manual. If unsuccessful,
contact the Agilent Technologies office nearest you.

Instruments Covered

A two-part serial number is located on the rear panel of the instrument. The first two
letters and first four digits are the serial number prefix. The last five digits are the
sequential suffix which is unique to each test set. The contents of this manual apply
directly to test sets with the same serial number prefix as the one(s) shown on the title
page.
If the serial prefix of your test set is not listed on the title page, your instrument differs
from those documented in this manual. The differences are documented in the manual
changes supplement supplied with the manual.
