    SYSTEM 3000. The DDI-8 is a plug-in PC card that is added to the SYSTEM 3000 card rack. The dialer option must be installed in the SYSTEM 3000 before any DDI-8 cards can be installed in the unit. The SYSTEM 3000 has up to eight card slots available for various options, including the DDI-8.
  • Page 8 The DDI-8 card processes dialer Alarm, Trouble and Restore conditions. The SYSTEM 3000 displays and prints the incoming DDI-8 signals. The user can specify Restoral = Yes or No for each account number. After an alarm or trouble condition appears, the CLEAR button will blink if an invalid account number comes through or if Restoral = N for that account number.

    SECTION 3 DIALER SET UP After the DDI-8 is installed into the unit, operator will access the Set Up Mode through the front panel keypad. By pressing the SET button, the operator may step through all available menus. If pressed for over one second, the SET button will auto repeat. Direct access to the DDI-8 menu is possible by entering the menu number (16) and pressing the SET button.

    Once all Configuration tables have been set up, you are ready to add Customer Numbers to the system. Customer numbers are three to six digit numbers that will represent the Dialer Account number calling in to the DDI-8. Do NOT include Zone numbers in the customer number.

    SYSTEM 3000, the user must install all customer numbers. The DDI-8 may be installed in place of an existing DDI-7 on units with a CPUV or earlier. In this instance, the user simply removes the DDI-7 card, sets the switches on the DDI-8 card to the proper settings and installs the DDI-8 into the unit.

    DDI-8 INSTALLATION AND OPERATION MANUAL 4.2.1. RETROFIT SWITCH RESTRICTIONS There are further restrictions that apply to units utilizing the DDI-8 in the DDI-7 alarm reporting format. These restrictions apply to pulse code transmission protocols only. 1. Only 3/1, 3/1 extended, 4/1 and 4/2 formats will be processed. Extended format is active for all four character long messages.
  • Page 25 The DDI-8 converts any single digit alarm message to a two digit message. When alarm code 123- X is sent to the dialer, the SYSTEM 3000 processes a code 123-XX (where xx is zone 01 - zone 99).

    Fire code requires two phone lines to the monitoring equipment. On SYSTEM 3000 units with two phone lines (two DDI-8 cards), if the first phone line is unable to make a connection, the phone automatically hunts to the second phone line (second DDI-8). (Please note: The hunt feature is provided by your local phone company, not Digitize, Inc.

    DIAGNOSTICS 6.1. SYSTEM TEST The DDI-8 performs a self test when the System 3000 is powered up. To view the self test the user must remove the cover of the SYSTEM 3000. The position of SW7 determines if the DDI- 8 performs a full diagnostic test or a quick test version.
