How to perform firmware upgrade on Billion 52xx
What you need
• Your Internet access account details from your ISP - this is important as
you will need to have the login details from your ISP after the firmware
upgrade.
• The firmware file – you will need to obtain the correct firmware file from our
website. You can access our eSupport portal via:
http://www.billion.uk.com/esupport
• WinZip – all our firmware are usually zipped in a folder so you will have to
unzip it using WinZip. If you do not have WinZip, you can obtain it free from:
http://www.winzip.com.
Important notes
• Only upgrade if necessary – if your router is working without any problems,
we will recommend you to stay with the existing firmware. There are always
risks that the router might not work if the firmware upgrade failed.
• Always use a wired Ethernet connection – a wired Ethernet connection is
highly recommended when performing firmware upgrade to minimize possible
interruptions.
• Do not disturb or power off the router during firmware upgrade – if the
firmware upgrade process was disturbed you will end up having a dead router.
• Turn off any firewall or Internet security software – as firmware upgrade
process involve uploading the firmware file from your computer to the router,
it is best to turn off any firewall or Internet Security software to avoid possible
conflicts. Please refer to your software supplier on how to turn the software off.
