248 Driving and parking
* NOTE Damage to the vehicle or trailer
when you start the vehicle after uncou-
pling
Vehicles with level control: When the vehicle is
started again after the electrical connection
between the vehicle and trailer is disconnec-
ted, the vehicle will rise by around 15 mm to
the normal level.
If the distance between the ball head and the
drawbar is insufficient, the vehicle or the
trailer could be damaged when the vehicle
automatically rises.
Ensure that there is sufficient distance

between the vehicle's ball head and the
coupling head on the drawbar when
uncoupling the trailer.
Secure the trailer against rolling away.

Disconnect the electrical connection between
#
the vehicle and the trailer.
Uncouple the trailer.
#
Vehicles with level control system: make sure
that there is sufficient distance between the
ball head and the coupling head of the draw-
bar. The vehicle rises by about 15 mm to the
normal level after it is restarted.
Place the cover cap on the ball head.

Trailers with LED lighting: after uncoupling the
trailer, switch the vehicle on and then off
again.
Bicycle rack function
& WARNING Risk of an accident if the bicy-
cle rack is used incorrectly
The bicycle rack may become detached from
the vehicle in the following cases:
the permissible load capacity of the trailer

hitch is exceeded.
the bicycle rack is used incorrectly.

the bicycle rack is secured to the ball neck
R
beneath the ball head.
Observe the following for your own safety and
that of other road users:
always adhere to the permissible load
R
capacity of the trailer hitch.
always observe the permissible rear axle
R
load of the towing vehicle.
use the bicycle rack only to transport bicy-

cles.
always properly secure the bicycle rack by

attaching it to the ball head.
use only bicycle racks approved by
R
Mercedes-Benz.
always observe the bicycle rack operating

instructions.
