When riding your bicycle, do not stare at the computer for a long time (Figure 1). If you do not watch the road, you could hit an obstacle, which might cause you to lose control and fall.
Figure 1. Do not stare at computer for long periods of time.
Getting your GoTime up and running is easy and takes only about 10 minutes. However, it will help you through the process if you take the time to completely read this manual before you start. For example, you cannot complete the setup process (#3 below) if the sensor cannot read the magnet in the wheel (#1).
Here are the steps in the process:
Screwdriver, small slot type
To increase battery life, the GoTime is shipped with the battery NOT INSTALLED. Before proceeding with the setup, you must install the battery.
After you install the battery, do not place the computer back into the band because you will need access to the SET button on the back of the computer. Instead, follow the set-up procedure, which starts automatically when you install the battery.
After you install the battery, the Setup procedure starts automatically. Place the GoTime within 27" (70 cm) of the sensor, and be ready to activate the sensor as explained in the next section.
You can begin the Setup procedure without re-installing the battery. See "To re-set all data and settings".
You can attach the computer to the handlebar (only). Consider your preference for left and right, and your access to the button on the computer.
This section gives you the information you need to enjoy your ride: how to see the modes of the GoTime, and how to start your ride.
These steps start with Speed/Clock mode, which is what you see after completing the Setup Procedure. However, you can start on any step shown here. Note that speed always displays.
To change a screen, press :
Clock > This is the time of day.
Timer > This is the amount of time you have been riding after you last restarted the trip data. The timer starts when the wheel turns.
Trip distance > This is the distance you have ridden after you last restarted the trip data, displayed to the tenth.
Odometer > This is the distance you have ridden since you last re-set the computer by performing the set-up procedure, rounded to whole miles or kilometers.
Average speed > This is your average speed during this trip.
Before a ride, you may want to set your trip information to zero (0). This is called a 'restart.' The trip information includes trip distance, elapsed time, and average speed.
This section tells you how to change individual items in the set-up without doing a complete re-set, which erases all settings.
To set-up values on the computer, you must remove it from its band.
A Re-set of the computer erases all data and settings. Before you do a re-set, you may want to write down your odometer total.
The 'mph' screen appears and you can start the procedure To Set-up Your Preferences.
To setup a custom wheel size, use the Tire Size chart or measure the bike's rollout (the distance the bike travels in exactly one revolution of the wheel). Then setup the computer.
