Preparation

  1. Remove the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
  2. Insert two batteries (LR 03/AM 4/AAA) in the battery com-partment. Make sure the polarity of the batteries is as marked on the bottom of the compartment.
  3. Push the battery compartment cover back in.
    Note: If you are not going to use the device for a long period of time, remove the batteries from the compartment. Remove flat batteries immediately. Do not dispose of used batteries with domestic refuse. Always dispose of used batteries according to the regulations which apply in your area.

CONTROLS

ON/OFF Switches the device on and off.
Manual and automatic tuning.
VOL. Volume control.
MEM. Memory function button.
1, 2, 3, 4, 5 Buttons for selecting and storing preset stations.
+ 5 Button for selecting the second level of preset station buttons 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.
STEREO/MONO Switches between stereo and mono reception.
UBS ON/OFF Switches UBS bass booster function on/off.
LOCK ON/OFF Switches the button lock on/off.
Jack for the stereo earphones supplied.

RADIO MODE

Radio reception and station selection

  1. Press »ON/OFF« to switch on the device.
  2. Use »VOLUME« to adjust the volume.
  3. Press »« or »« to select the frequency. Press briefly to tune in increments, or hold down for fast tuning.


    – or –
    Press »« or »« for one second.
    • The search stops at the next station with a strong signal.
  4. If the FM stereo signal is too weak, press »STEREO/MONO« to switch to »MONO« reception.
  5. Press »UBS ON« to "boost" the bass tones.
  6. Press »ON/OFF« to switch off the device.

Storing stations
Up to 10 preset stations are available. Five stations can be stored on the first level using the »1, 2, 3, 4, 5« buttons. Five more can be stored on the second level using »+ 5« and »1, 2, 3, 4, 5«.

  1. Press »« or »« to tune to the station you want to store.
  2. Press »MEM.«.

    • Display: »MEMO« flashes for approximately 5 seconds.
  3. To store the first 5 stations, press »1, 2, 3, 4« or »5«, and then »MEM.«.
    • Display: The »MEMO« symbol disappears.
      – or –
  4. To store on preset numbers 6 to 10, press »+ 5« and then »1, 2, 3, 4« or »5«, then press »MEM.«.

    • Display: »MEMO« and »+ 5« flash. »MEMO« and »+ 5« then disappear.
      Note: If you do not store a station during the five seconds during which »MEMO« flashes in the display, save mode ends and you must start again.
  5. To store more stations repeat steps 1 to 3 or 4.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Disabling the buttons
If you press »LOCK ON« you can protect the device from unintentional pressing of the buttons. If this function is selected »∂« appears in the display. To reenable the buttons, press »LOCK OFF« again.

Stereo earphones
Excessive volume can be dangerous to yourself and other road users. Listen at a volume which allows you to hear outside noises such as horns, emergency vehicles and police cars.

Cleaning
Do not use cleaning agents as they can damage the casing. Clean the device with a clean, moist leather cloth. Make absolutely sure that it is protected against dampness (rain, water sprinklers).

Safety and technical data
This device is designed for the playback of audio signals. Any other use is expressly prohibited. Protect the device from humidity. Never open the device casing. The manufacturer accepts no liability for damage resulting from improper handling.
The type plate is located on the back of the device. This device is noisesuppressed according to the applicable EC directives. This product fulfils the European directives 89/336/EEC, 73/23/EEC and 93/68/EEC. This device meets the VDE 0860 safety specification and therefore the international safety regulation IEC 65.
Batteries: 2 x 1.5 V (LR 03/AM 4/AAA). Reception range: FM 87.5 – 108 MHz. Output: 2 x 10 mW (earphones), 120 mW (loudspeaker).
