Please read the instruction carefully before operating the unit.

UNPACK THE UNIT

When you unpack your unit, make sure that you have removed all the accessories and information papers:

  • Bluetooth Micro system
  • Remote control
  • Aux in cable
  • 75 Ohm transferring antenna cable
  • AC adaptor

INSTALLING BATTERY

Insert 2 "AAA/ UM4" batteries to the remote control prior to use. Make sure to match their polarities (+/-) to the markings inside the compartment.


Before throwing any batteries away, consult your distributor who may be able to take them back for specific recycling.

NOTES:

  • Never recharge the batteries, apply heat to them or take them apart.
  • If the remote control is not going to be used for a long time, remove the battery to avoid damage caused by battery leakage corrosion.
  • Attention should be drawn to the environmental aspects of battery disposal.
  • Do not throw batteries in fire!
  • Battery shall not be exposed to excessive heat such as sunshine, fire or the like.


Danger of explosion if battery is incorrectly replaced. Replace only with the same or equivalent type.

POWER SUPPLY

AC ADAPTOR

The supplied AC adaptor is suitable for use on AC main supplies of 100-240V ~ 50/60Hz and should only be connected to a mains supply within these parameters.

In a concern of saving energy, when playback has reached to the end or listening volume is set at a very low level and no control is operated on the device for a period of 2 hours, the unit will automatically switch to Standby mode.

  • The AC adaptor included with this unit is for its use only. Do not use it with other equipment.
  • Turn off the unit before unplugging the AC adaptor from the unit so as to avoid the unit being damaged.
  • When the unit is not going to be used for long time, disconnect the AC adaptor from the AC outlet.
  • Be sure to use it near the wall outlet and easily accessible. If a malfunction occurs, disconnect the plug from the wall outlet at once.
  • AC adaptor is used as the disconnect device. It shall remain readily operable and should not be obstructed during intended use. To be completely disconnected the apparatus from supply mains, the AC adaptor of the apparatus shall be disconnected from the mains socket outlet completely.
  • Never use an AC adaptor that is damaged, route power lead in a safe manner and make sure it is not subjected to trapping or pinching. If the power lead is damaged refer to a qualified service agent.

SETTING TIME

  1. In standby mode, press once to enter time setting mode and the hour digits flash.
  2. Press / on unit or / on remote control to set the hour value. Press to confirm and minute digits flash.
  3. Press / on unit or / on remote control to set the minute value and press again to confirm.

AUDIO CONTROLS

LOUDNESS

Press LD button on remote control to turn on / off loudness.

Loudness on: the display shows "Loudness ON"

Loudness off: the display shows "Loudness OFF"

BASS/TREBLE

Press AUDIO button on remote control to select Bass or Treble function, the corresponding icon will appear on display, then press or to set bass or treble level. Release the button to confirm the setting.

EQ

Press EQ button on remote control to toggle among the different sound effects (FLAT/ CLASSIC/ ROCK/ JAZZ/ POP). The selection will show on display for few seconds.

TURNING UNIT ON/OFF

  1. Press button to turn on the unit.
  2. Long press button on unit or short press button on remote control to turn off the unit.

SELECTING FUNCTION

When the unit is ON, press SOURCE button repeatedly to select the desired function in cycle: DAB+/FM, Disc, USB, Bluetooth, RCA or AUX.

BLUETOOTH FUNCTION

Pairing a Bluetooth Device

  1. When the unit is ON, press SOURCE button on unit repeatedly to select Bluetooth mode. The display will show "BlueTooth". The Bluetooth indicator will start to blink rapidly.
  2. On the Bluetooth device, enable Bluetooth and select "M-785DAB" from the Device List. (Refer to the user manual of the device to be connected for detailed operations.) If the Bluetooth device prompts for a pass code, use"0000". Some Bluetooth devices will ask you to accept the connection. You will hear an indication voice when pairing is successful.

Tip: If you want to connect your Bluetooth speaker to another Bluetooth audio device, you need to disconnect current device first and follow the steps above to make a new connection.

If the pairing fails, perform the following:

Press and hold the /PAIRING button until the Bluetooth indicator blinks quickly to enter the Pairing mode. On the Bluetooth device, enable Bluetooth and select "M-785DAB" from the Device List (see step 2 above).

  • On some devices such as computers, once paired you must select the unit from the Bluetooth menu and choose "Use as Audio Device (stereo)" or similar.
  • Pairing remains intact when the unit and/or your Bluetooth device is taken out of communication range. An active connection will be re-established when your Bluetooth device returns within range.
  • When the unit is turned on again, it will automatically try to reconnect with the most recently paired Bluetooth device.

Using a Bluetooth Device

  1. With a unit paired (see previous section), operate your Bluetooth device and its sound will be heard through the M-785DAB's speakers.
  2. Press the button to pause playback. Press again to resume playback.
  3. Select desired track with /.
  4. Adjust the volume using the / Volume buttons. You can also adjust the volume on the device to which you are paired.

Using a NFC Device

NFC (Near Field Communication) is a technology that enables short-range wireless communication between NFC-enabled devices, such as mobile phones.

  1. When the unit is ON, press SOURCE button repeatedly to select Bluetooth mode. The display will show "BlueTooth". The Bluetooth indicator will start to blink rapidly.
  2. Enable NFC and Bluetooth on your Bluetooth device (see the user manual of your device for details), tap the NFC device on the NFC tag on unit until you hear an indication voice. The NFC device is connected to this unit via Bluetooth.
  3. Select and play audio files or music on your NFC device.
  4. To break the connection, tap the NFC device with the NFC tag on this unit again.

Note: The operational range between the main unit and a NFC device is approximately 10 meters.

LISTENING TO DISC

  1. When the unit is ON, press SOURCE button to select disc mode. The display will show "Disc" for a few seconds. Press to open the disc tray. Insert a disc with label side facing up. Press again to close the disc tray. (Note: If there is no disc inserted, the display will show "No Disc" ).
  2. After a few seconds, the total number of track will appear on display for a few seconds and playback starts automatically.

RADIO

Listening to the radio

When the unit is ON, press SOURCE button to select Radio mode. The display will show "Digital Radio" for a few seconds and change to current frequency.

Band selection

When selected radio mode, long press BAND button on unit or short press BAND repeatedly on remote control to select DAB/DAB+ or FM band.

Listen to DAB/DAB+ Radio

  1. When selected DAB/DAB+ mode, the unit will start automatic scan for DAB/DAB+ stations if it's the first time to use. The display will change to "Scanning......". A progress bar will show the progress of the scanning and the number of stations found will be displayed.
  2. When the scan is complete, the unit will select the first available station and start to play automatically. Stations will be listed in numerical and then alphabetical order by default.
    Note: When the DAB radio station list is stored, it will not search automatically again. Press SCAN button to search and list station.
  3. Press or to select the stations in the list.
  4. Press the button to confirm your selection.

Note:

  • If no broadcasts are found by DAB/DAB+ scan, "No DAB Station" appears in the display.
  • For a better reception, insert the antenna cable into the external antenna socket and extend it.
  • During the search operation, the sound level is automatically muted.

LISTEN TO FM RADIO

In FM radio mode, Press or button to manual tuning. Press SCAN button once or press and hold or to automatic search.

Note: For a better reception, insert the antenna cable into the external antenna socket and extend it.

PRESET STATION

This unit can store 10 FM and 10 DAB/DAB+ stations.

  1. Long press BAND button on unit or short press BAND repeatedly on remote control to select FM or DAB/DAB+ band.
  2. Select a radio station.
  3. Press and hold 1-10 number button on remote control to stored it. "stored" will be displayed.
  4. Repeat step 1-3 to store other stations.

Listening to station presets

  1. Long press BAND button on unit or short press BAND repeatedly on remote control to select FM or DAB/DAB+ band.
  2. Press P+ on unit or 1-10 number button on remote control to select your desire station.

Note: If you choose a station that hasn't been allocated, "Preset Empty" will be displayed. If the station has been allocated before, the frequency will be showed.

SETUP MENU

Navigating the setup menu.

  1. In FM or DAB mode, press and hold to enter into setup menu.
  2. Press or button to scroll to one of the available options.
  3. Press button to enter related setup.

FM Setting Menu

Scan setting

To select all stations or Strong stations only.

All stations: the automatic search locates at any available station.

Strong station only: the automatic search only locates at strong stations.

Audio setting

To select Stereo allowed or Forced mono.

System

To select the system setting options: Factory Reset, SW version.

  • Factory Reset
    To clear all users defined settings.
  • SW version (software version)
    To display the current software version.

DAB Setting Menu

Full Scan

This function allows you to automatically scan and create a list of receivable DAB/ DAB+ broadcasts.

Manual Tune

This function can be used to assist the positioning of the antenna or the unit to obtain the optimum reception for a specific channel or frequency.

DRC (Dynamic range compression)

DRC can make quieter sounds easier to hear when the unit is used in a noisy environment.

Press or button to select your desire DRC level: off, high, low. Press button to confirm.

DRC off - no compression. This is the default setting.

DRC high - maximum compression.

DRC low - medium compression.

Note: DRC is effective only in dynamic range compression broadcast.

Prune (remove stations that are listed but unavailable)

Press or to select "No" or "Yes", then press button to confirm or cancel removing all invalid stations.

System

Please refer to the system of FM Setting Menu.

REVIEWING MORE INFORMATION (FM/DAB MODE)

Repeatedly press INFO. button to review some unit settings or available information for the station you are listening.

USB PLAYBACK

  1. Connect an USB device to the USB MP3 port on unit.
  2. Press SOURCE button repeatedly to select USB mode. The display will show "USB" for a few seconds and playback will start automatically.
  3. Select desired track with /.

Notes:

  • The total number of MP3 files on the USB device should not exceed 999.
  • The device may not contain more than 99 directories.
  • The reading time takes about a few seconds or more depending on the amount of MP3 files and folders on USB device.
  • Do not put anything other than a USB device to the port of this unit. Other objects may damage the USB mechanism.
  • The USB socket must not be connected to the computer directly, for that may damage the unit.
  • There are many USB devices in the market. We cannot guarantee to support all different models. Please try another USB device if your device is not supported.

PLAY MODES (CD/MP3)

Repeat playback

Press REP. button on remote control repeatedly to select a play mode,

  • Repeat One: display shows "Rep-1".
  • Repeat folder: display shows "Rep-F". (MP3 only)
  • Repeat All: display shows "Rep-A".

To cancel repeat playback, press REP. button repeatedly until repeat indicator disappears.

Random playback

Press RAND. button on remote control. Display show "RAND.". It will play all tracks in random order. Press RAND. button again to cancel this function.

Program playback

  1. In stop mode, press PROG. button on remote control. The display will show "P01 0001".
  2. Select the desired track with /, then press PROG. button to conform.
  3. Repeat above steps to program up to 32 tracks for CD and 99 tracks for MP3.
  4. Press to start program playback.
  5. Press button once to stop the program playback. Press twice to cancel this function.

Select a folder (mp3 only)

  • Press on remote control to select the first track of next folder of your current disc or USB.
  • Press on remote control to select the first track of previous folder of your current disc or USB.

By number buttons +10, 1-10

Use the number buttons to input the track number, and it will start playback from the selected track automatically.

If you want to input the track number bigger than 10, use the +10, 1-9 button.

Example 1: to select the 14th track, firstly press 4 then press +10 (4+10=14)

Example 2: to select the 25th track, firstly press 5 then press twice +10 (5+10+10=25)

CONNECTING AUXILIARY SOURCE

To AUDIO IN RCA jacks

  1. Connect your auxiliary source (e.g. DVD player) to the AUDIO IN L/R jacks on back of unit with RCA audio cable (cable not included).
  2. Press SOURCE button repeatedly to select RCA mode. The display will show "RCA_INPUT".
  3. Start playback from your auxiliary source.
  4. Adjust the volume to desired level.
  5. To stop playback, disconnect your auxiliary source from the AUDIO IN L/R jacks.

To 3.5mm AUX IN jack

  1. Connect your auxiliary source (e.g. mp3 player) to the AUX IN jack on the top of unit (cable included).
  2. Press SOURCE button repeatedly to select AUX IN mode. The display will show "AUX_INPUT".
  3. Start playback from your auxiliary source.
  4. Adjust the volume to desired level.
  5. To stop playback, disconnect your auxiliary source from the AUX IN jack.

SETTING THE ALARM

Setting the alarm

In standby mode, press ALM. once to enter alarm setting mode. The display will show "Alarm OFF".

  1. Press / on unit or / on remote control to enter alarm setting mode. "Alarm ON" appears on display. Press ALM. to confirm and the hour digits flash.
  2. Press / on unit or / on remote control to set the hour value. Press ALM. to confirm and minute digits flash.
  3. Press / on unit or / on remote control to set the minute value and press ALM. again to confirm. "AL." remains on display.

NOTES:

  • The alarm will wake up to the previous mode (Bluetooth, Disc, USB, FM/DAB+, RCA or AUX) when the alarm time is reached. Select your desired wake-up mode before the unit is turned off.
  • If there is no audio input from your selected wake-up source when the alarm time is reached, it will switch to radio mode automatically after approximate one minute.
  • If the wake-up source is radio mode, select your desired radio station before the unit is turned off.

Stopping the Alarm

Alarm stop

Press . The alarm will sound again the next day at the same time. Alarm indicator "AL." remains on.

Alarm Cancellation

  1. In Standby mode, press ALM. to enter alarm setting mode.
  2. Press / on unit or / on remote control to select "Alarm OFF" and press ALM. again to cancel the alarm permanently. "AL." disappears.

SLEEP FUNCTION

In sleep mode, the unit will turn off automatically after a specified time.

You can select duration in minutes before the unit turns off automatically.

  1. Press SLEEP on remote control repeatedly to select 90-60-45-30-15-10 or 5 minutes of listening. The remaining sleep time will be displayed.
  2. To cancel the sleep function, repeatedly press SLEEP button until the remaining sleep time disappears.

Note: Sleep time can only be set when the unit is turned ON.

DIMMER

Press DIM. button on remote control to select the brightness of the screen: high or low.

USB CHARGING

This unit is equipped with a built-in USB charging port (Output: 5V 1A) for recharging your mobile device (e.g. Smartphone, tablet, etc. )

Simply plug the USB charging cable (not included) into the USB charging port and connect it to your mobile device.

TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE

Should this unit exhibit a problem, check the following before seeking service:

No Power

  • Make sure unit is connected to AC power.

No Sound – General

  • External device's volume is set to minimum; raise volume.
  • The M-785DAB's volume is set to minimum; raise volume.

The Bluetooth device cannot pair or connect with the unit

  • You have not activated the Bluetooth function of your device. Refer to the user manual of your device to activate Bluetooth function.
  • The unit is not in pairing mode. Press and hold the /PAIRING button until the Bluetooth indicator blinks fast.
  • The unit is already connected with another Bluetooth device; disconnect that device and then try again.

To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not open the device, there is no party inside for the user. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel.

shock hazard The lightning with the arrow symbol in the triangle is a warning sign alerting the user to "dangerous voltage" inside the unit.

The Caution mark is located at the back of the device.

  • The use of apparatus in moderate climates.
  • The Marking plate is located at the back of the device.
  • Make sure to have a minimum distance of 5 cm around the unit for sufficient ventilation.
  • Ensure that the ventilation openings is not covered with items such as newspapers, tablecloths, curtains, etc.
  • Do not place naked flame sources, such as lighted candles on the apparatus.
  • Do not expose this appliance to dripping or splashing water.
  • Do not place objects filled with liquids, such as glass, vase on the device.
  • Do not throw batteries into fire! Respect the environment when disposing of used batteries.
  • Batteries should not be exposed to excessive heat such as sunshine, fire or other similar heat source.
  • The power plug is used as a disconnect device and must be easily accessible. To be completely disconnected from the power, the plug of the appliance should be disconnected completely. The socket must not be obstructed and should be easily accessible during intended use.
  • Under the influence of fast transient and / or electrostatic electric phenomenon, the product may malfunction and the user must perform a power reset of the device.
