Battery removal/installation (ETS, HTS)
• Batteries produce explosive gases: If ignited, an explosion can cause
serious injury or blindness. Provide adequate ventilation when
charging.
• CHEMICAL HAZARD: Battery electrolyte contains sulfuric acid.
Contact with eyes or skin, even through clothing, may cause severe
burns. Wear a faceshield and protective clothing.
Keep flames and sparks away, and do not smoke in the area.
• ANTIDOTE: If electrolyte gets into your eyes, flush throughly with
warm water for at least 15 minutes and call a physician immediately.
POISON: Electrolyte is poison.
• ANTIDOTE:
– External: Flush throughly with water.
– Internal: Drink large quantities of water or milk.
Follow with milk of magnesia or vegetable oil, and call a physician
immediately.
• KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.
Battery removal:
1.Remove the chute.
2.Remove the main fender.
3.Disconnect the negative (–) cable from the battery negative (–)
terminal; then disconnect the positive (+) cable from the battery
positive (+) terminal.
4.Loosen the nuts, and pull off the battery holder from the battery.
Battery installation:
1.Set the battery.
2.Set the battery holder and tighten the nuts.
3.Connect the positive (+) cable to the battery positive (+) terminal,
then connect the negative (–) cable to the battery negative (–)
terminal.
4.Reinstall the main fender.
5.Reinstall the chute.
