INSTRUCTIONS ON USE

Overview

  1. Lens.
  2. Led indicator.
  3. Test button.
  4. Cable gland.
  5. Light-level adjustment potentiometer.

DESCRIPTION

The ORBILUX twilight switch provides control of an installation in function of ambient light levels.

The ORBILUX compares the ambient light level with the adjusted level and if it is less than this level it activates and will deactivate when the ambient light reaches the switch-off level. Both operations incorporate delay times.

INSTALLATION

Installation and mounting of electric apparatus shall be carried out by an authorised installer.

The unit is internally protected against interference by a safety circuit. However, certain, especially strong magnetic circuits may alter its operation and thus, it should not be installed close to inductive loads, such as motors and transformers etc.

If the installation needs circuit of ground it is necessary to place a floating terminal properly isolated inside the device to guarantee the continuity of the circuit.

MOUNTING

On a wall, avoiding direct exposure to sunlight and lighting sources.

To ensure moisture protection in outside installation or where it might be splashed with water, the connection wires must pass through the silicone wall bushings in the lower section. When the twilight switch is closed, the two screws must be firmly tightened so that the base and cover are correctly joined together.

The cell is ready for installation on a lamppost, support or other post using a metal clamp as shown in FIG.2. Special precautions must be taken not to position the cell within the field of action of the light to be controlled since this would cause incorrect operation.
Mounting

OPERATIONAL TEST

Press the TEST pushbutton and no matter what light level is adjusted, the load will be activated for thirty seconds. If it does not activate, check the connection or lamp condition.

ADJUSTMENT

When the ambient light level is that required to activate the twilight switch, rotate the light-level potentiometer fully anticlockwise.

Then slowly turn it clockwise until the LED indicator comes on. The switch-on level is now automatically adjusted and the load will be activated after a delay time of approximately thirty seconds.

The purpose of the delay times is to prevent activation/deactivation due to sudden changes in light level (lightning and vehicle headlights etc).
