The interface cable must be designed for two drives. Attach a
cable connector to each drive's 40-pin ATA interface connec-
tor. Align the cable's edge-stripe with pin 1 of the drive. Attach
the other end of the cable to the host adapter card or to the
hard-drive connector located on the motherboard. Align the
cable's edge-stripe with pin 1 (see your system user's guide
or host adapter user's guide). You can attach the drives in any
order on the cable.
Cable-select installation:
Refer to your computer's user's guide to determine which
interface connector is used for the master and which is used
for the slave.

Mounting the drive

The drive fits in the standard 3.5-inch bay. Use four 6-32 UNC-2A
screws (not included) in either the side mounting holes or the
bottom mounting holes, shown in Figure 5 on page 16, to mount
the drive. You can mount the drive securely in any orientation.
Position the drive so cables are not strained or crimped.
Caution. To prevent drive mounting-hole damage, use only the
type of screws specified.
Bottom mounting holes. Insert four mounting screws not more
than 0.20 inches (6 full turns) into the drive frame.
Side mounting holes. Insert four mounting screws not more than
0.20 inches (6 full turns) into the drive frame.
This completes the physical installation.
