Installation Planning

Planning is the key to fast, easy installation. Before a hole is drilled or a
wire is run, inspect the vehicle and determine how and where you intend
to mount the junction box, phone cradle, speaker, visor microphone,
remote PTT button, remote palm microphone (optional), and speaker
(see Figure 1). Plan wire and cable runs to provide maximum protection
from pinching, crushing and overheating.

A properly installed Car Kit will minimize service calls and equipment
downtime. Refer to the following guidelines when planning the installa-
tion:
• Use the provided hardware for mounting.
• Ensure that the cables are not stretched, and not subjected to heat
from engine or transmission.
• Crimp connectors securely.
• Do not attach components to any part of the vehicle that is not rigid
or is subject to excessive vibration.
• Do not run cables over sharp edges that could cause wear or
chaffing of cable insulation.
