3. Personal safety
a. Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when
operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool if you are tired or under the
influence of drugs, alcohol, or medication. A moment's inattention while
operating a power tool may result in serious personal injury.
b. Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Using
protective equipment such as a dust mask, safety shoes with non-slip soles, a
helmet or hearing protection under the appropriate conditions will reduce
personal injuries.
c. Prevent unintentional starting. Make sure that the switch is in the off
position before you connect the tool to the power source and/or battery, pick it
up or carry it. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or energising
power tools with the switch on invites accidents.
d. Remove any spanner or spanner before turning on the power tool. A key
or spanner stuck to a rotating part of the electrical device may cause personal
injury.
e. Do not reach too far. Always remain standing and balanced. This enables
better control of the power tool in unexpected situations.
f. Dress neatly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair, clothes
and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothing, jewellery or long hair can
get caught in moving parts.
g. If there are facilities for connecting dust extraction and collection equipment,
make sure they are connected and used correctly. The use of these facilities
can reduce dust-related hazards.
4. Use and maintenance of power tools
a. Do not force the power tool. Use the right power tool for your application.
The right power tool will do the job better and safer at the speed it was
designed for.
b. Do not force the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any
power tool that cannot be operated with the switch is dangerous and must be
repaired.
c. Unplug the power supply and/or remove the battery pack from the power
tool before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing
the tool. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of the electrical
device being accidentally switched on.
d. Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons
unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool.
Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.
