Introduction Overview The Sealevel POS+4.PCI is a four channel PCI Bus serial I/O adapter supporting data rates up to 921.6K bps in the RS-485 mode and 460.8K in the RS-232 mode. This adapter is equipped with industry standard RJ-45 connectors to ease in cabling.
Before You Get Started What’s Included The POS+4.PCI is shipped with the following items. Card Setup Electrical Interface Selection The POS+4.PCI has two modes of operation that are controlled by dipswitch SW1. Switch SW2 positions 1–4 control these modes of operation. Set the corresponding switch either ‘On’ for RS-485 or ‘Off’ for RS- 232. For example if Port 1 is to be RS-485, then switch position ‘1’ would be on. Refer to the following example for guidance.
Power Selection (+5/+12) The POS+4.PCI has the ability to provide DC power on pin 5 of the RJ-45 connector to be used by the integrator in low power implementations. This power is fused at 1A across all ports and is selectable as +5, +12 VDC or no power required.

Do not install the Adapter in the machine until the software has been fully installed. The POS+4.PCI can be installed in any of the PCI expansion slots and contains configuration options for each port that must be set for proper operation.

No two adapters can occupy the same I/O address. Make sure the Sealevel Systems adapter is using a unique IRQ The IRQ is typically selected via an on-board header block. Refer to the section on Card Setup for help in choosing an I/O address and IRQ.
