Installation Scenarios

There are several different installation scenarios for the Digi IX10 cellular router and Tracer SC+ system
controller. Depending on the site-specific connectivity scenario, the connection options are varied.
Since each Ethernet port on the Tracer SC+ controller can be independently configured based on the
scenario, several application use cases exist. Refer to the cases below for additional information.
Standalone Building Controller
For standalone Tracer SC+ use cases with no network connectivity, connect the cellular router to
Ethernet/LAN port 1 on the Tracer SC+ system controller. When the optional Tracer 10" display is also
used, connect the display to Ethernet/LAN port 2 on the system controller. While the default
configuration of port 2 normally connects automatically to the hardwired display, configuration of port 1
may be necessary depending on the IP address of the Digi cellular router. Refer to the installation
literature of the Tracer SC+ controller for additional setup information.
Networked Building Controller — Hardware Display
The Tracer SC+ is normally connected to the building network through a hardwired (Ethernet)
connection to Ethernet/LAN port 1 on the system controller. Connect the cellular router to the remaining
Ethernet/LAN port on the Tracer SC+ system controller. When the optional Tracer 10" display is also
used with this use case, one option is to hardwire the display to the building network with an Ethernet
cable. Collaborate with the customer's IT professionals to confirm the IP address of the display.
With the display connected to the network, refer to the installation literature of the display to properly
configure the display for connectivity to the Tracer SC+, since the destination address and login
credentials of the Tracer SC+ controller must be entered in the Tracer 10" display configuration.
Networked Building Controller — Wireless Display
The Tracer SC+ can be connected to the building network through a wireless (Wi-Fi) or hardwired
through Ethernet/LAN port 1 on the system controller. If hardwired, connect the cellular router to the
remaining Ethernet/LAN port on the Tracer SC+ system controller. When the optional Tracer 10" display
is also used with this use case, connect the display to the Tracer SC+ controller by using the Wi-Fi
adapter on the Tracer SC+. Refer to the installation literature of the Wi-Fi adapter for proper setup
instructions. Alternately, connect the display to the building network to enable connectivity to the
network-enabled Tracer SC+ system controller.
If the display is connected to the network, refer to the installation literature of the display to properly
configure the display for connectivity to the Tracer SC+, since the destination address and login
