INSTRUMENT OPERATION

The instrument is switched on by pressing the ON/OFF button. To obtain accurate humidity measurements, allow the instrument to stabilise in the environment for a minimum of one minute. To maximise accuracy, allow airflow across the sensor.

HOLD

Press the HOLD button to freeze the display and stop measurements, press again to continue measuring.

MAX/MIN

Press the MAX/MIN button to display the values. The instrument retains the max/min values when switched off. To reset, press the MAX/MIN button for three seconds, 'rst' will be displayed.

MODE

Press the MODE button to change the display between %rh, temperature and dew point measurements.

AUTO-OFF

The instrument will switch off automatically after 10 minutes. To disable auto-off press the HOLD button whilst switching on the instrument (this is reset when the instrument is switched off).

°C/°F

The unit can be switched between °C and °F by pressing the MODE button for three seconds.

ERROR MESSAGE

'Err' will appear in the display

  • If communication with the sensor has failed
  • If the sensor is contaminated or wet
  • If the instrument has developed a fault

SENSORS

Care must be taken not to contaminate the relative humidity (%rh) sensor otherwise its accuracy can be reduced. DO NOT submerge in water or any other substance.

BATTERY REPLACEMENT

The instrument will display 'LO BAT' to warn that the batteries will need changing soon. The instrument continues to measure accurately but after further usage the instrument will display 'flat bat' and shutdown. Replace the batteries with three AAA batteries located under the rear cover that is held in place by a single screw.


IPA and other solvents may cause damage to the case and screen of this instrument.

ATTENTION

STORAGE of HUMIDITY SENSOR

The humidity sensor housed in this product is susceptible to contamination from pollutants, such as solvents, and long term exposure to saturated air and therefore are not covered under the two-year guarantee. Furthermore the sensor readings may drift by up to 0.5% per year. The 6000 series hand held unit when not in use, must be stored with protective cap securely fixed.

GUARANTEE

This instrument carries a two-year guarantee against defects in either components or workmanship. During this period, products that prove to be defective will, at the discretion of ETI, be either repaired or replaced without charge. This guarantee does not apply to probes, where a six-month period is offered. The product guarantee does not cover damage caused by fair wear and tear, abnormal storage conditions, incorrect use, accidental misuse, abuse, neglect, misapplication or modification.
