thickness of the rectangular shaped bodies. But also for most and especially the most common,
most traded bars, groupings can be found. Therefore, please pay attention to the minimum
requirements regarding length and width which we set for the respective ingot size (to be found in
the respective measuring screen as well as in this manual).
Another important aspect of the above-mentioned bar sizes is the usually complete packaging in
plastic films or plastic blisters together with certificates. This often makes the exact centred
alignment on the measuring circle difficult. In these cases, you should be particularly meticulous
when it comes to placing the object on the measuring surface. In addition, the blister will often
create large distances between the actual object to be measured and the measuring unit. It is
therefore highly advisable to always place the flatter of both sides first and to apply slight pressure
to help. The metal should come as close as possible to the surface. With some bars it is not
possible to a sufficient extent, so that in these cases a measurement is unfortunately not possible
(i.e. NGC blistered bars).
1 gram gold bars („1 g Au")
For the 1 gram bars of pure gold, this results in a nominal conductance of approximately
14.5 MS/m with minimum dimensions of 14.8 × 8.4 mm. However, by far the largest number of
investment bars from renowned manufacturers is in the corresponding range. Below is a table
with comparative values with various bars measured by us. The example of the ESG CombiBar
shows that smaller and correspondingly thicker bars do not lie within the target range specified by
us.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Due to the changed target range, some materials fall within the target range
that would actually be identified as clear counterfeits. Thus, certain types of brass can also fall
within the measured value range of approx. 14.5 MS/m. Therefore, our principle, which is always
strongly recommended, applies all the more: Never rely on only one single measuring method! For
example, it is always advised to also determine the correct dimensions and weight or density.
2 gram & 2.5 gram gold bars („2/2.5 g Au")
The values of the 2 g and 2.5 g gold bars are so close to one another that we have decided to
combine them into one value. Of course, this results in a slightly higher fluctuation range around
the target value of 31.5 MS/m. The minimum dimensions of the bars should be 19 × 11 mm. The
