iOS Optimization #4 : MixerConnect and Auto Updating Apps in iOS8
iOS adds an interesting feature that allows apps to be updated in the background. This feature is
great for consumer apps like games, etc. However, you use apps like MixerConnect and auto-updating
your apps can cause problems if the process is not properly understood. Before you update that app,
let's first understand how updates generally work.
1. You are notified of a MixerConnect update through the iOS App Store.
2. You download and install the update. Boom. The app is updated.
But now, the operating system can update an app in the background automatically, including the
MixerConnect App. While highly unlikely, it is possible that this could cause serious problems during
a presentation or performance. Obviously this is not something you want to happen.
To avoid this, we strongly recommend you disable automatic updates for Apps.
Here's how:
Go to Settings > iTunes & App Store.
Simply turn App Updates off.
