Basic Manual is a manual which will be available after the installation of setup CD is completed. It provides
basic operation of the product and its specification , system requirements, maintenance tips, regulatory,
environment, safety and other need to know information. Regulatory information is available from the top-page
of this Basic Manual.
Online Manual is the browser based manual over the internet. Please read this manual for the latest detail
information on how to operate the software, troubleshooting, and so on.
• Important Notice
When this product is connected to a network, network devices such as wired router or wireless router are
required depending on its configuration. The wired LAN connection is available with some products and LAN
cable is required in this case.
For computers without a CD/DVD drive, please visit Canon local website to download and install the printer
software.
When you use the Canon printer for the first time after you install the bundled ink tanks, the printer consumes
a small amount of ink in the amount to enable printing by filling the nozzles of the Print Head with ink. For this
reason, the number of sheets that can be printed with the first ink tanks is fewer than the succeeding ink tanks.

Keep in mind that ignorance of following avoidable acts may lead to fire or electrical
shock.
Placing producl close lo the flammable solvents such as alcohol or thinner.
Use of power cord and/or cable other than lhe one supplied.
Plugging in the power cord to voltages other than specified .
Plugging the power cord incompletely such as half the way.
Plugging in and unplugging the power cord with wet hands.
Use of damaged cords caused by pulling, twisting, tying or excessively bending.
Placing heavy objects on the cord.
Using bundled or knotted power cord.
Connecting excessive numbers of plugs into one electrical outlet. Using multiple
extension cords.
Leaving power cord plugged in while lightning.
Plugging in the cables and power cord during cleaning. Using flammable spray or
liquids such as alcohol or thinners for cleaning. Wipe it with a soft dry cloth instead.
Taking apart or modifying the product and accessories.
Unplug the power cord once a month to see if power cord/plug shows anything
unusual such as heat, rust, bent, scratch, split and so on.
Unplug the cord/plug and call for service if above is observed since they may lead to
a fire or an electric shock afterwards.
If you hear unusual noises, see smoke, feel excessive heat, smell anything unusual,
drop metallic part or spill liquid into the product, immediately unplug the power cord
and call for service. Continued use of the product may result in fire or electrical
shock.
• Shipping the Product
This product may not be used in countries or regions other than the country or region where it was purchased due
to local laws and regulations. Please note that the use of this product in such countries or regions may lead to
penalties and that Canon should not be liable for such punishment.
• About Consumables
Consumables (ink tanks I FINE Cartridges) are available for 5 years after production of the printer has stopped .

Each safety standard mark and declaration is valid only for the voltage and frequency
of the respective country or region where it applies.

attempt to use the printer in any way not described here or in the accompanying
manuals. This may cause unexpected accidenl, fire, or electric shock.

For development and marketing of producls thai better meet customer needs, Canon requests that the information
below, related to your Canon product, be sent to Canon (in case of using your Canon product in China. to the
legally approved research company) through the Internet.
Information related to Canon inkjet printer/scanner/fax
Device's OS version, language, and display setting information
Device driver and application software usage logs
Printer's ID number, installation date and time, type of ink installed, ink use information, number of sheets
printed, scanning frequency, and maintenance information
Paper use information, printing environmenVconditions, scan job setting , and questionnaire results
(Some of the above information may not be sent depending on your model.)
If your Canon product is shared for use, the above information recorded in the shared product will be sent. If
you are to agree, please convey this fact to the users who share the product and obtain their agreement as well
beforehand .
In this survey, we will not send any information other than the above, including your personal information. For this
reason , from the information that is sent to us, we are unable to identify specific customers.
We are therefore unable to respond to requests to disclose any sent information.
After you agree to the requests, the above information will be sent to Canon (in case of using your Canon product
in China, to the legally approved research company) through the Internet. The Internet connection fee shall be
borne by you.
