Connecting to power supply

5.1

Preparing the connection

Always keep in mind the following safety instructions:
Warning:
Connect only in the complete absence of line voltage.
The electrical connection must only be carried out by trained,
qualified personnel authorised by the plant operator.
Always switch off power supply, before connecting or disconnect-
ing the instrument.
If overvoltage surges are expected, overvoltage arresters should
be installed.
Caution:
Install switch or circuit breaker easy to access as a disconnecting
device for the instrument. The disconnecting device must be marked
for the instrument (IEC/EN 61010).
The SITRANS LVL100 and the connected load must be protected
through a respectively dimensioned fuse.
The instrument is connected with standard two-wire cable without
screening. If electromagnetic interference is expected which is above
the test values of EN 61326 for industrial areas, screened cable
should be used.
Caution:
The connection cable used must be suitable for the permissible ambi-
ent temperature. You can find the permissible ambient temperature in
the "Technical data".
Make sure that the cable used has the required temperature resist-
ance and fire safety for max. occurring ambient temperature
Use cable with round cross section. Depending on the plug connec-
tion, you have to select the outer diameter of the cable respectively so
that the seal effect of the cable gland is ensured.
Valve plug ISO 4400, ø 4.5 ... 7 mm
Valve plug ISO 4400 with IDC crimping technology, ø 5.5 ... 8 mm
Use cable with a round wire cross section and tighten the cable gland.
When mounting outdoors, on cooled vessels or in moist areas in
which cleaning is made with steam or high pressure, the sealing of
the cable gland is very important.
