14 Commissioning

14.1 Inspecting the System

An important aspect of the commissioning operation is inspection of the fence and
sensor cable installation to ensure adherence to the recommendations outlined in
section 1.
Satisfactory adjustment of the analyser will be difficult to achieve with a poor
installation. It is important that any problem areas are fixed before moving on to the
next stage.

14.2 Analyser Testing

Once the connections to the analyser and end-of-line are made the analyser can be
powered up and tested.
1.
Before switching on, remove the power connector J2.
2.
Switch on the power supply and check pin 1 is positive and pin 2 is 0V.
3.
Plug in J2 and with the lid micro-switch held down, check both the alarm and
tamper LEDs are showing green.
4.
If either of the LEDs are not lit, a fault condition exists. Refer to section 15.2 for
guidance.

14.3 Adjusting the Analyser

It is imperative that the analyser adjustments are carried out when
the weather is relatively calm as adjusting the system during
periods of strong wind and/or heavy rain may result in the system
having insufficient sensitivity in calm weather.
Remove the lid, hold down the lid tamper micro-switch and verify both alarm and
tamper LEDs are green.

14.4 Adjusting For Fence Cut-Through Detection

1.
Remove climb link jumper, see Figure 25.
2.
Set cut jumper link to the 'Low' position. While a simulated cut on the fence is
carried out, adjust 'CUT' potentiometer until the red alarm led is operated on the
second cut.
3.
If cut is not detected, move the Cut Jumper to the 'Med' position and re-adjust
the 'Cut' potentiometer until the red alarm led is operates on the second cut. If
cut is still not detected, move the Cut Jumper to the 'High' position and re-adjust
the 'Cut' potentiometer until the red alarm led is operated on the second cut.
The 'FENCE' setting link has NO effect on the CUT detection.

14.5 Adjusting For Climb-Over Detection

To obtain a realistic climb adjustment a full sustained attack
should be attempted and it should last for at least four second
1.
Note the position of the cut link jumper and then remove it.
2.
Set climb jumper link to 'Low' position.
3.
While the fence is being climbed, adjust 'climb' potentiometer until the red alarm
